Craig Conover is weighing in on Austen Kroll and Salley Carson’s confusing Southern Charm relationship, and he does not think their current dynamic is working.
During the Tuesday, October 13 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Craig was asked about Austen and Salley’s will-they-won’t-they situation, which became a major topic after the two grew closer during Southern Charm Season 11.
Craig made it clear that he cares about both Austen and Salley, but he does not believe the way they are handling their relationship is healthy.
“Look, I love both of them,” Craig said. “I don’t think it’s healthy what they’re doing.”
Craig explained that while he was away filming the upcoming sixth season of Peacock’s The Traitors in Scotland, things between Austen and Salley apparently changed.
“A lot happened while I was gone,” Craig said, adding that he felt Austen and Salley were “almost regressing” in their relationship.
According to Conover, the problem is that Austen and Salley seem stuck in a gray area. They are not fully dating, but they also do not appear to be fully moving on.
“I don’t think it’s a sustainable relationship,” Craig said. “I think they are hindering each other from moving forward, and it’s almost like this safety net that they have.”
Craig also pointed out that their current dynamic could create issues if either one of them tries to seriously date someone else.
“If they try to date other people, no one’s gonna be OK with their relationship now, and so they have to figure that out,” Craig explained.
He added, “Either date or don’t date, but this middle-ground thing is, I think, not healthy.”
Austen and Salley first got close during Season 11 of Southern Charm after Austen’s split from Audrey Pratt. Their chemistry quickly became a talking point among the group, but their relationship has remained undefined.
Salley has previously admitted that she feels happiest when she is with Austen, but she has also acknowledged that their dynamic can get messy, especially when jealousy comes into play.
