Meredith Marks is opening up about her son Brooks Marks and how he has started to find his confidence on Next Gen NYC.
While appearing on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show to promote The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Meredith reflected on Brooks’ journey and said viewers may finally be seeing a different side of him.
According to Meredith, Brooks Marks has a confidence that the audience and even some of his friends may not have fully seen before.
“There’s a confidence in Brooks that I know that maybe, you know, the audience and probably his friends even, you know, on Next Gen and just around him have not really had a chance to see,” Meredith said.
Meredith explained that Brooks entered the Next Gen NYC experience cautiously because of what he had previously dealt with on RHOSLC.
“I think Brooks was pretty self-protective starting this process because he was put through quite a bit on my show,” Meredith said. “And he had to kind of take a moment, take a beat to come into his own.”
Brooks first appeared on RHOSLC alongside Meredith and quickly became a topic of conversation among the cast and fans. His fashion line, his dynamic with the women and the way he was discussed on the show made him part of the Bravo conversation long before Next Gen NYC.
Now, on Next Gen, Brooks is stepping into his own role instead of simply appearing as Meredith’s son.
Meredith also said Brooks’ slower-to-react personality reminds her of herself.
“That’s also how we are wired,” Meredith explained. “He’s not all that different from his mother.”
Meredith said she is not someone who immediately goes on the attack and believes Brooks operates in a similar way.
“I’m not one to just go on the attack,” Meredith said. “I try to give people a chance to come to the conclusions that I feel they should be coming to on their very own before I go on the attack.”
She continued, “I usually try to give people a chance. That’s just how I’m wired and I don’t lose my temper immediately. I mean, it usually takes quite a bit of provocation to get me there.”
Meredith said she sees that same quality in Brooks.
“And I think Brooks is not all that different,” she said. “And I think he wants to give people a chance, you know, to show who they are and to do what we believe is the right thing.”
