Lisa Rinna is weighing in on the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, and her comments are raising eyebrows.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star posted a video on TikTok claiming that Patrick Clancy, not Lindsay Clancy, was responsible for the deaths of the couple’s three children.
In the video, Rinna said, “Alright he did it. Patrick did it. Patrick’s the one who did it. Not Lindsay. Patrick did it.”
Rinna explained that she had discussed the case with her therapist, who allegedly reached the same conclusion.
According to Rinna, her therapist looked at her and said, “He did it.” Rinna said she agreed with that assessment.
Rinna appeared to base part of her belief on the idea that women typically do not use strangulation in killings. However, her claim about Patrick is not part of either side’s argument in court.
Lindsay Clancy is currently on trial in Massachusetts for the deaths of her three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, who were killed in January 2023. Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to murder charges, but her defense does not dispute that she killed the children. Her attorneys are arguing she should not be held criminally responsible because they say she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, bipolar disorder and the effects of psychiatric medication at the time.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, argue that Lindsay acted intentionally and understood what she was doing. A defense psychologist testified this week that Lindsay had a mental disease or defect and did not appreciate the wrongfulness of killing her children, which is central to the defense’s argument.
Patrick Clancy has not been accused by prosecutors or the defense of killing the children. He was the one who found Lindsay after her suicide attempt and later discovered the children, according to reporting on the case.
Rinna’s comments also come as online conspiracy theories surrounding the case have spread. Some online communities have pushed the claim that Patrick killed the children and framed Lindsay, despite Lindsay admitting to the killings and her defense focusing on postpartum psychosis and lack of criminal responsibility.
The case has drawn national attention because it centers on severe postpartum mental illness, criminal responsibility and the psychiatric treatment Lindsay received before the killings. The defense has argued that Lindsay was in the grip of postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors have maintained that she planned the killings and knew right from wrong.
Rinna has not presented evidence supporting her accusation against Patrick. As of now, the actual trial remains focused on whether Lindsay was criminally responsible at the time of the killings, not on any allegation against Patrick.
Still, Rinna’s video has added another layer of attention to an already highly sensitive case.
While the internet continues to debate theories surrounding the tragedy, the courtroom arguments remain clear: prosecutors say Lindsay knowingly killed her children, while her defense says she killed them while suffering from severe postpartum mental illness.
Patrick Clancy is not accused by either side.
