Margaret Josephs is once again speaking out about her departure from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but her latest comments are raising eyebrows.
The longtime RHONJ star recently appeared on the Shut Up! Tell Me More podcast with Pat Comiter, where she claimed that she knew returning for her final season was a mistake. Margaret also said her family ultimately encouraged her not to put herself back into what she described as a toxic environment.
However, several sources have previously claimed that Margaret’s exit from RHONJ was not actually her choice, making her latest comments even more interesting as fans continue to question what really happened behind the scenes.
During the podcast appearance, Josephs said, “I made a mistake going back even my last season.”
Margaret explained that she was allegedly told she would not have to be around Luis “Louie” Ruelas while filming her final season.
“I made a mistake going back my last season. I was told I wouldn’t have to be around him which I wasn’t. They were still speaking ill of me and wished me suffering on my family, on my son, on myself,” Margaret said.
Margaret then said the decision to walk away came after conversations with her family.
“I made a decision with my family. They said you can not go back to that if its that environment. I said it. I stuck to it and I meant it,” Margaret added.
Margaret’s comments appear to be aimed at Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas, who became two of her biggest sources of conflict during her final seasons on the show. The drama between Margaret, Teresa and Louie reached a boiling point as accusations, private investigator claims, lawsuits, and off-camera allegations took over RHONJ.
But while Josephs is now pointing to the toxic environment as one of the reasons she should not have returned, fans have also pointed out that Margaret contributed plenty to that same toxic dynamic over the years.
Josephs has never been afraid to go low during an argument. During her time on RHONJ, she made several harsh accusations about her castmates, including accusing Jennifer Aydin of having an issue with drugs. Jennifer strongly denied the accusation, and the comment became one of the many examples fans bring up when discussing how dark the RHONJ cast became.
Josephs also spent multiple seasons making serious claims about Louie Ruelas, questioning his past, his intentions, and his relationship with Teresa.
By the end of Josephs’ run, the show had become less about friendships and more about years of grudges, outside bloggers, private information, and cast members refusing to move forward.
That is why Margaret’s latest comments are getting mixed reactions. While some fans believe she had every right to remove herself from a toxic environment, others feel she is rewriting history by acting as if she was only a victim of it.
