NeNe Leakes is officially stepping back into the Bravo universe, but not in the way Real Housewives of Atlanta fans have been waiting for.

Nearly six years after her very public exit from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, NeNe is reportedly making her return to the network through a new spinoff project. However, sources say this is not a full-circle comeback to RHOA, nor is it a full-time Housewives role.
According to TMZ, NeNe will appear on Bravo’s upcoming series The Real Housewives: Ultimate Road Trip, which is set to celebrate 20 years of the Real Housewives franchise. While the show will feature a rotating lineup of Housewives traveling across the country, NeNe’s involvement is said to be limited — and very specific.
The outlet reports that NeNe will not be a main cast member on the series. Instead, she will have what’s being described as a “notable presence” during the Atlanta portion of the road trip, where she currently lives. In other words, Bravo is bringing NeNe back into the fold — just not handing her a peach.
NeNe was last seen as a full-time Housewife on season 12 of RHOA, which aired in 2020. After years on the show, including multiple exits and returns, she ultimately walked away from the franchise amid tensions with the network and cast. Since then, speculation about whether she would ever return has never fully died down.
In fact, NeNe herself has kept the door cracked open — at least hypothetically.
“I don’t know, if the opportunity was right and the check was on point, why not?” she told TMZ in January 2025 when asked if she would ever return to the Bravo universe.

This time, the opportunity appears to come with boundaries.
The Real Housewives: Ultimate Road Trip was first announced by Andy Cohen during BravoCon 2025, where he teased a crossover event designed to honor two decades of the franchise.
“Guys, Ultimate Girls Trip is back and it’s on Bravo coming in 2026,” Andy said at the time. “It’s The Real Housewives: Ultimate Road Trip celebrating 20 years of the Real Housewives.”
He added, “We will have iconic Housewives taking the road trip of a lifetime to the Housewives’ cities where they will be joined by iconic Housewives past and present from the span of two decades.”
The new series is set to begin in Orange County, California — home of the original Real Housewives — before traveling across the country and eventually ending on the East Coast. While the full cast has yet to be announced, NeNe’s involvement in the Atlanta stop signals Bravo’s willingness to reintroduce legacy stars without fully reintegrating them into their original franchises.
Bravo and Peacock Unscripted chairman Frances Berwick also described the project as a tribute to the women who built the franchise.
“For two decades, The Real Housewives has amplified women’s voices, spotlighted their ambition, humor, and strength,” she said in a November 2025 statement. “The Real Housewives: Ultimate Road Trip is a love letter to the women who turned a reality television show into a cultural phenomenon.”
NeNe, of course, is one of those women. She was part of RHOA from its debut in 2008, appeared for seven seasons, exited, returned, and ultimately left the franchise for good in 2020 after cameo appearances in later seasons.
Now, she’s back — just not back back.
And while fans may be disappointed she won’t be rejoining RHOA for season 17, Bravo’s decision to include her on its own terms raises an unavoidable question: is this a soft reentry, or simply a one-stop appearance designed to tap into nostalgia without reopening old wounds?
Either way, NeNe Leakes and Bravo are clearly doing business again — even if neither side is calling it a reunion.
