Kimora Lee Simmons has never shied away from reality television, but she’s also been clear about where she draws the line.
During a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Kimora explained why she has no interest in joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, despite years of interest from fans and repeated invitations to participate. While she understands the appeal of the franchise, she made it clear that the format doesn’t align with what she wants to do on television.
Kimora acknowledged that people have long wanted to see her return to reality TV, but she said RHOBH was never the right fit. In her view, the show leans too heavily on drama that doesn’t feel organic, calling it a bunch of “manufactured crap.”
She shared that she’s been asked “a lot” to join the Beverly Hills cast, but she deliberately chose not to. Instead, she gravitated toward projects that felt more in line with her past work, particularly something closer in spirit to Life in the Fab Lane, where the focus was more on her life, career, and family rather than conflict.
For Kimora, avoiding Housewives wasn’t about avoiding television. It was about avoiding the kind of confrontations that come with the franchise.
“I didn’t want to go on the Housewives, and people wanted me to go on there on TV like that, and I didn’t want to fight with these girls,” she explained. “And I didn’t want to have manufactured drama with these girls.”
Rather than step into a cast built around feuds and alliances, Kimora ultimately chose to tell her story on her own terms. She now stars in Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane, which gives viewers a look at her life without the pressure to create conflict for the sake of entertainment.
