Real Housewives of Potomac alum Mia Thornton is back in the headlines after being arrested in Atlanta on Wednesday, Nov. 19. According to the Atlanta Police Department, the 40 year old was taken into custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and booked into the Fulton County Jail “without incident.”
Police said Thornton’s arrest stemmed from an active warrant “related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft.”
A police report viewed by PEOPLE outlines the accusation. A property management company filed the complaint on behalf of a condo owner who had rented the unit to Thornton. The report claims furniture was removed from the property “in the middle of the night” on Oct. 28. The former landlord alleged that “the tenants also took all of the furniture which was in the unit prior to their move in as well as the tv which was on the wall.” The items were valued at $11,000.
The arrest comes months after Thornton announced her exit from RHOP and her move to Atlanta. In April she shared on Instagram that she had “made the decision to relocate to Atlanta” with her family and would not return to the show next season. She described the shift as a “new beginning” and called her four seasons on the Bravo series “an unforgettable journey…filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories.”
Thornton also thanked Andy Cohen and Bravo for “believing in me and giving me the space to share my story.” She addressed her castmates and fans directly, saying, “To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments,” and, “And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me.”
Even while stepping away, she hinted that more was on the way, writing, “This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride.” She closed her post with, “I don’t just make headlines — I make History. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded. #LegacyInTheMaking.”
As the legal case unfolds, fans will be watching closely to see how this new chapter begins.
