Scheana Shay is clearing her name after being unexpectedly pulled into Real Housewives of Orange County drama involving Katie Ginella, Gretchen Rossi, and a long-running rumor that’s resurfaced in Season 19.
The Vanderpump Rules star says she knows exactly who’s behind the mess, and she’s not letting it slide.
The Origin of the Rumor
The drama erupted earlier this month during an episode of Two Ts in a Pod, the podcast hosted by Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge. On the show, Mellencamp and Ginella discussed journalist KiKi Monique’s recent claim that Ginella once told her a story about Rossi being hospitalized after Judge’s infamous “naked wasted” party in 2013.
But things got more complicated when Mellencamp claimed it wasn’t Ginella who spread the rumor, it was Scheana Shay, who allegedly heard the story from Rossi and then passed it along to Monique.
Scheana’s Response: “I’ve Never Heard Any of This”
Shay responded to the accusation during the Virtual Reali-Tea Awards, speaking with Page Six’s Evan Real and Danny Murphy. She denied any involvement and stood by her long-time friend Gretchen Rossi.
“The truth is with Gretchen. Gretchen never said this to Katie,” Shay said. “So now for Katie to go on ‘Two Ts in a Pod,’ and go, ‘Well I heard Scheana heard this from Gretchen and told KiKi,’ I’m like, I’ve never … never heard any of this at all.”
“Gretchen has never said this,” she continued. “I’ve been friends with her for over 15 years. I think I would’ve heard this story by now, and now they’re just spreading lies about me and I have an issue with that that I address on my podcast on Friday.”
Who’s to Blame?
Shay revealed that three RHOC cast members have reached out to her about the situation and said she believes one person is ultimately responsible for stirring the pot: Tamra Judge.
“All things point to Tamra being behind this,” Shay claimed. “Are we shocked by that?” she added sarcastically. “I think her and Katie are canoodling behind the scenes and trying to deflect from Katie being a pathological liar.”
Shay also stood firm in her support for Rossi, saying, “One thing I know about Gretchen is she doesn’t lie.”
Where Things Stand
Season 9 of RHOC originally saw Ginella and Rossi at odds over the hospitalization rumor. In the latest twist, Monique said it was Ginella who told her the story during a lunch in 2024. Ginella admitted the lunch happened but denied ever saying Rossi was hospitalized.
Rossi has also denied ever telling Ginella anything about being hospitalized.
With tensions heating up and fingers pointing in all directions, Scheana Shay plans to tell her full side of the story on her podcast this Friday.
