Fans were buzzing when Gia was announced as part of the cast. After all rumors had been swirling that she was leaving the Bravo world for good. But not only is she staying she’s taking a bold step forward. In a recent interview with Parade Gia shared how the opportunity came about and why she felt now was the time.

“Brooks brought me the opportunity” Gia revealed referring to Brooks Marks son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Meredith Marks and her new Next Gen NYC co-star. “My family was already in the public eye but I just took this as an avenue for me to show myself outside of the Real Housewives.”

This move marks a major moment for Gia who’s been a fan-favorite ever since she was a little girl singing “Wakin’ Up in the Morning” in the early seasons of RHONJ. Now she’s grown up and navigating life in New York City with a whole new set of challenges. And yes that includes internet trolls and reality drama.

Luckily she’s not doing it alone. Her friendship with Brooks goes beyond the cameras and viewers can already see their support system in action. In episode 2 the duo sit down with their moms — Teresa and Meredith — to unpack some group tension and offer each other advice. “He was happy to have Gia by his side” as she helped him deal with the online hate that comes with being on reality TV.

While Next Gen NYC may have a fresh format Gia insists the drama isn’t scripted. “The amount of people that ask that about Jersey because of the crazy fights that have happened on that show but it really is [real]” she said. “Everything is real all of our actions all of our words. Everything is really real.”

From her early days on RHONJ to this new chapter Gia Giudice is proving that she’s more than just a Bravoleb kid. She’s ready to build her own brand and Next Gen NYC is just the beginning.

Watch Gia take on the city and reality TV on her own terms. Next Gen NYC airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
