Gia Giudice and Riley Burruss may both be daughters of Bravo royalty, but that hasn’t stopped tensions from rising between the two ahead of the premiere of Next Gen NYC. The upcoming Bravo series, featuring the next generation of Real Housewives kids, is already generating drama — and it’s not even on air yet.
The rift began after Gia, 24, made some offhand comments on her podcast Casual Chaos, comparing The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Real Housewives of Atlanta — the franchises that made their moms, Teresa Giudice and Kandi Burruss, household names. “I didn’t think it was that deep,” Gia told Us Weekly on May 31. “I don’t know how to please her, I guess.”
During the podcast, co-host Dolores Catania suggested that RHOA could “give RHONJ a run,” prompting Gia to bring up the conversation with Riley, 22. But Riley didn’t appreciate the comparison. “She looked at me and said, ‘No, they’re very different,’” Gia recalled. “I was very surprised, but she got very offended when I said that. It was me also trying to bond over something.”
Gia Giudice later clarified that her intention wasn’t to compare their moms or offend anyone. “All I was saying was, obviously, every Housewife franchise has its own niche,” she explained. “But at the end of the day, they also have the same common denominator. They’re friend groups with drama.”
TikTok commentary only added fuel to the fire. “It’s the same guy that always reports on drama,” Gia noted, referring to a content creator who weighed in. “He actually [hit] the nail on the head. He said, ‘I don’t really think Gia was comparing Kandi and Teresa.’ I was not. In no way, shape or form.”
“I really was just like, our moms are on reality TV. They’re both on Bravo. I don’t know, she didn’t really like it, I guess,” Gia added.
Despite the conflict with Riley, Gia said she’s built a solid bond with another castmate, Ariana Biermann, daughter of RHOA alum Kim Zolciak. Ariana, 23, confirmed the quick connection: “I didn’t know what to think, but I definitely didn’t think we were going to hit it off on our first day ever hanging out, and that’s what we did.” Still, she noted that her friendship with Riley could complicate things. “That will definitely keep some friendships rocky and on the rocks between a lot of different people.”
With Next Gen NYC right around the corner, the next wave of Real Housewives drama looks ready to take center stage.
