Gia Giudice Opens Up About an Awkward Encounter with Riley Burruss – Dolores Catania Weighs In

On a recent episode of Gia Giudice’s podcast, Casual Chaos, things got candid when Dolores Catania joined her for a conversation that drifted into some Real Housewives crossover drama.

Teresa Giudice and Gia Giudice

Gia Giudice, the daughter of Teresa Giudice of RHONJ, shared a story about a surprising reaction she got from Riley Burruss, daughter of Kandi Burruss from RHOA. Gia recalled trying to make a friendly connection with Riley by comparing their experiences growing up on Housewives shows.

“I actually said to her once, I feel like Atlanta and Jersey give the same energy,” Gia said. But instead of finding common ground, Riley wasn’t having it. “She got really offended by that.”

Dolores seemed genuinely surprised: “Really? Why?” she asked, echoing what many fans might be wondering.

Gia admitted she was caught off guard. “She looked at me and said, ‘No, they’re very different.’ I said okay,” Gia recounted. “It was kind of me also trying to bond over something… but she didn’t like it.”

Dolores, never one to sugarcoat, simply said, “That’s not nice,” and offered some wisdom: “Right off the bat then you know that’s the pace of the relationship that you’ll have with that person.”

The exchange highlights how even among Housewives kids — who might seem like they share similar experiences — there’s still a lot of room for personality clashes and misunderstandings.

Whether Riley just took the comparison the wrong way or truly sees a vast difference between the two franchises, one thing’s clear: Gia learned quickly that not every attempt to connect lands the way it’s intended.

I'm no Gia fan, but I'd be kind of offended too if I was her. Riley has been brought up by Kandi and her grandmother to think she's better than others. From what I've seen of her on the show she has no social skills and that's down to how Kandi has brought her up. It's common manners to be polite and particularly on first meeting you try to find common ground even if you don't fully agree with someone. The correct response from Riley would be "oh sure, although I think some differences might be x,y,z". And then continue the chat in a light and friendly manner. It's meeting people 101.

I'm actually surprised Riley could put four whole words together in a sentence. Last time I saw her, she was a chubby and rather illiterate-sounding kid whom I just assumed was a little "slow".

This isn’t a bad thing on either side . It is awkward when you think you share an opinion or moment with someone and they don’t give same energy back . Not a big deal . Not everyone comes around and leaves making a new friend . I don’t think Riley is very social outside of her own family/ circle . Not a bad thing ; either is being an extrovert.

I don't know who Riley is but Gia should just keep her distance. I think everyone tries to bond by sharing a common ground. If this Riley doesn't recognize that, then that says something about her. Dolores is right here.

Riley is Kandi’s kid.

Gia was a much bigger star on RHONJ than Riley ever was on RHOA let's be clear. Riley was rarely shown, and Kandi was never an OG.
