After four seasons of glam, and drama, Mia Thornton has officially announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Potomac. In a Instagram post accompanied by a over the top photoshoot, the RHOP star revealed she’s turning the page on her Potomac chapter and heading down south.
“With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share,” Thornton wrote. “My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season.”
Mia Thornton joined RHOP in Season 6 and made waves with her bold personality, business savvy, and candid approach to, well… just about everything. From clashes with costars to explosive reunions, she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind — and fans noticed.
But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Mia Thornton’s time on the show was often mired in controversy. Throughout her RHOP tenure, she faced questions about her businesses, transparency regarding her finances, and the evolution of her friendship-turned-feud with fellow cast member Wendy Osefo. Most notably, Season 7 saw a headline-making physical altercation between Mia and Wendy during the cast’s trip to Miami — a moment that sparked intense viewer backlash and reignited conversations about accountability in the Housewives universe.
Still, through the ups and downs, Mia remained a commanding presence on-screen, and she leaves with gratitude — and plenty of flair.
“The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey — one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories,” she continued. “I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story.
To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments.
And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me.”
In true Mia fashion, she ended her announcement with some signature confidence — and a hint that her story is far from over.
