Dolores Catania Compares RHONJ Hiatus to a Breakup While Teresa Giudice Says Bravo Took A Break For A Reason

The Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) has become a cornerstone of reality TV over the years, and when production on the show was paused, fans were left wondering what was next for their favorite housewives. While fans are eagerly waiting to see what the future holds, Dolores Catania has compared the hiatus to a breakup while Teresa Giudice says Bravo took a break for a reason.

When asked by Us Weekly if they were hopeful about the future of RHONJ, Teresa Giudice was quick to respond with her signature optimism. “Yeah, we’re always hopeful,” she said, clearly holding onto the belief that the show would eventually return. Dolores Catania, however, took a deeper approach, acknowledging the emotional aspect of the break. “We’re workers. I know I like it. She’s (Teresa) a worker. I am a worker and you know it’s a part of you, right? But it doesn’t define you, not us anyway, but it is a part of our lives that is missed.”
While both women are busy with their personal lives, Dolores made it clear that the show, though important, isn’t everything. Still, the absence of RHONJ has left a void. “It’s a part of our lives that is missed,” she added, expressing how strange it is not to be filming after so many years of doing so.

As the conversation shifted to how strange it has been not filming, Teresa spoke about the relief she’s found. “I have been relaxing, drama-free,” she said, clearly enjoying the break from the usual chaos. Dolores, on the other hand, described the adjustment as more complicated. “At first you’re running on adrenaline of what you have to do and what’s expected of you,” she explained. “And then all of a sudden, it’s like, wait—it’s been a while now since I’ve done that.”

Dolores went on to say, “You go through a little thing like almost like a breakup. I feel like a relationship breakup, and then you’re like, you take a little break, and then you’re like, okay, I want to start going again.” She continued, describing the emotional rollercoaster that followed: “Sure, it’s all different. It’s like, yeah, it’s almost not like a death, but you go through all different things.”

The ladies were joined by Shannon Beador, who chimed in with her own experience. When Dolores asked Shannon how long she had been filming The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon responded, “I was just understanding, and after I think it was COVID—our show took like a year. It was a long pause too, and that was hard.”

Dolores then pointed out the length of the RHONJ break, clarifying, “We haven’t filmed RHONJ in two years,” which caused Teresa to reflect on the break with surprising clarity. “It doesn’t feel that long,” she said, adding that the pause was much-needed. “Listen, it was very toxic,” she stated, referencing the intense atmosphere that had developed on the show in the past seasons. Dolores, ever the poetic one, followed up with a reference to Frank Sinatra’s famous lyrics: “There’s a Frank Sinatra song that it was too hot, so hot it had to cool down.”

What Would It Take for RHONJ to Return?

The conversation took a more serious turn when the topic of returning to the RHONJ environment came up. Teresa was asked if she thought she could step back into that high-stakes atmosphere, or if it would need to be different for her to return. Her response was revealing: “Obviously, Bravo took a break for a reason, so I’m sure if they come back, there will be changes.”

Dolores agreed, though she admitted she wouldn’t want to be the one to make the decision about how the show should evolve. “I wouldn’t want to have to make their decision. That’s a very hard decision for them. I think it’s something that definitely, at this point, has to happen. I don’t think it’s something they ever wanted to do, but it’s being done. And I don’t know what’s taken them so long,” Dolores said, acknowledging the complexities involved in bringing the show back.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding RHONJ’s future, the women seem to agree on one thing: they’re hopeful for a positive outcome.

Yet again The Felon is caught lying, “I have been relaxing, drama-free,” she said." So I'm assuming your husband getting a tax lien in Dec for over $163K and then another tax lien in March for over $2.5M isn't stressful. Looks like Ewwy is in hot water with judges in NJ. Story can be found here, along with copies of the tax lien judgements: https://www.realitytea.com/2025/03/20/teresa-giudice-husband-luis-ruelas-hit-2-5-million-tax-lien-rhonj/ The Felon better start praying that Bravo brings her back and she better start writing another cook book to pay this off.

I think it's clear; Teresa "knows something", but just ain't tellin'. Uncle Andy knows Teresa's situation very well and I find it hard to believe that he's just leaving her hanging. I suspect that the report about Teresa, Melissa, and Dolores being told that "NBC/Universal/Bravo wishes to retain their services" is absolutely true.

The break is too long. Get back to it Bravo. I wouldn't even mind if they kept the same cast, maybe get rid of the Cabral's. Bring an OG back, get Chris and Jacqueline back from Vegas, and you're good to go!

and get rid of Margaret and Fuda...

IDK why it’s funny to me but this is . People think Teresa is so desperate yet she’s relaxing , going about things . Dolores who claims “it’s not everything “ to film , clearly is feeling some type of way not “ working “. I think just eliminating Marge , Fuda ‘s lying ass wannabe gangster hubby , thug Cabral - we can be good (imo) w/ this HOUSEWIVES show .

I would take it even one step further ... just leave the damn thing alone. I would trim some of the fat and keep it moving. Of course "fat" would be up for debate. NJ is always going to be about Teresa and the Gorgas; the challenge is going to be integrating others into the mix, authentically.

And that’s where the problem lies . I will give Dolo this and even Aydin to some degree - they both integrated pretty well . And although Aydin has her moments , she too even could’ve been ok and stayed ok with Gorga also if not for others pursuing a division to remain. Meh .

Yep, too much outside influence adding even more fuel to an already burning fire. Teresa and her brother are going to have to figure it out if either one of them want to remain on the show. I think it's pretty obvious that the problem is Joe, but it will only be a matter of time before Melissa gets thru to him. Teresa talks tough, but of course she wants her brother back.

You had me in agreement until Mel getting thru .. lmao . Say what ? Whatchu talkin‘’bout Willis ???? Errrmmm/ she is a nasty part of that problem between a brother and sister . When I have rewatched seasons when they first joined show - mind blown !!! The jealousy , the instigating , manipulation- sick . Every family disagrees and has issues but this was beyond .
AnEnigmaWrappedInSnark March 6, 2025 - 5:07 pm
I think the problem is Joe that probably goes all the way back to their childhood. Teresa and Mel are probably never going to be besties, but I think deep down they are like sisters, and as we all know, sisters fight. All it's going to take is for one of them reach out, and I can guarantee you the Bravo cameras are not going to miss it.

I really think it's Melissa who egged this on for years and conspired to get on the show ( yes, Joe too but Melissa more so) because I think Joe would like to make up with his sister. Melissa doesn't love Teresa but Joe does. However, Melissa will jump at any chance NOW to reconcile because she wants her spot back on TV for sure.

You could be right, we just don't know, I think there's plenty of stubbornness/ego to go around. But I do think now that their livelihoods are at stake, they WILL find a way to work together. Man, life is short (just as Teddi), right? It's time for them to get their sh together.

Remember when they were on some excursion and the ladies had to depict their relationship with Tre in a drawing? Teresa was touched by Melissa's drawing and they hugged....and they did have a few good seasons where they were getting along. Maybe it is more Joe.
AnEnigmaWrappedInSnark March 10, 2025 - 3:57 pm
Yup ... Teresa and Melissa can obviously work together and I believe they will do just that. Maybe Joe just won't attend any filmed husband/wife events ... who cares? Most of the "HW'S" in the entire series are single anyway.
cammierari March 11, 2025 - 11:25 pm
Joe? Skip a filmed event? Doubt it lol although I sure wouldn't miss him.
AnEnigmaWrappedInSnark March 12, 2025 - 4:36 am
I always liked Joe, but I can't say that I would necessarily miss him. Being Teresa's brothe, there was always a reason for Joe, but there have been too much of the Jersey husbands for yrs.

Joe and Melissa did take it to another level. Teresa said that even though the Manzos are no longer on the show which they started, they didn't go public in the same way Joe and Melissa did with family feuds. There is no love lost between Teresa and the Manzos but she did give them kudos for that.

Perfect cast with your changes mich.

How Camms !!! I’m actually surprised Bravo is playing the long game ( with NJ). I bet they’re waiting to see if certain people will makeup during the pause , so they can then resume filming . On the other hand , the dark only got darker and really there was no show , just teams/ fights . Meh , fine by me . I’m good not seeing the tantrum throwing ultimatum giving mean girls

Well, hopefully this show will be filming again soon with these ladies. Bravo is not earning any kudos for this dumb move.
