Karen Huger’s Non-Attendance at RHOP Reunion Could Signal the End of Her Run

Karen Huger’s Non-Attendance at RHOP Reunion Could Signal the End of Her Run

Karen Huger has made a notable absence from the Season 9 reunion of The Real Housewives of Potomac following her conviction on DUI charges.

Bravo unveiled the seating arrangement for the reunion special, and Karen Huger’s name was conspicuously missing, dispelling any rumors regarding her attendance.

Host Andy Cohen was flanked by Gizelle Bryant and Mia Thornton at the front of the couch, with Ashley Darby and Wendy Osefo seated beside them. Stacey Rusch and Keiarna Stewart sat furthest from Cohen.

In a statement shared exclusively with The Daily Dish, Karen’s manager Ryan Tresdale said, “Karen made the important decision to enter a private recovery program, so was unable to attend the reunion taping today. She was fully supported in this choice. We stand behind Karen as she embarks on this meaningful journey and are proud of her for taking such a significant step forward in her personal growth.”

The reality TV star is facing serious legal repercussions after being convicted on five out of six charges linked to a car accident in March 2024. According to Fox5 DC, Huger was found guilty of DUI, negligent driving, failing to maintain control of her speed to prevent a collision, and failing to notify authorities of a change of address. She was acquitted of reckless driving charges.

Throughout Season 9 of RHOP, Karen Huger’s DUI case cast a shadow over the show, but due to the ongoing legal proceedings, she was limited in what she could share. Despite attempts from her co-stars to press her for more information, she assured them that the truth would eventually come to light. However, with her absence from the reunion, her fellow cast members won’t have the chance to confront her about the verdict.

Huger’s sentencing is scheduled for January 29, where she will learn if she faces prison time, which could be up to two years.

In a statement to People, Huger’s lawyer, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the verdict but assured that an appeal would be pursued. “Although we are disappointed in the jury’s verdict, we, of course, respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case. We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time.”

Following the verdict, body cam footage of the incident was shared on social media, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

While Huger’s absence from the reunion marks a notable absence, it doesn’t mean she’s permanently written out of RHOP. A similar situation occurred with The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary M. Cosby, who skipped her Season 2 reunion to avoid facing her castmates’ scrutiny. Cosby did not return for Season 3, but made a return as a “friend of” in Season 4, eventually rejoining as a full-time cast member in Season 5. However it is said that if you choose not to attend the reunion, you will be in hot water.

IMHO, Karen should be canned, but they couldn't hardly get rid of her if they kept Shannon and Luann (like how would THAT look?). Besides, Bravo needed to keep them both so they could exploit their issues, which apparently paid off (at least for OC). Last time I checked, PoT's ratings have fallen into the 500K's, so it's probably only a matter of time anyway. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d5133f7b26e9d228dfae2f655b353786413dfcae62c569b1135d3cc3abd65306.jpg

Yes, we know. In Dec. of 2017, Luann De Lesseps was arrested for assaulting a police officer in Palm Beach, Florida. Charges included battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest (even escaping the handcuffs), and making threats against a public servant. She was highly intoxicated and struck a police officer in the forehead and threatened to kill them. She was later released on her own recognizance and entered an alcohol treatment program. She eventually settled the charges by pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of battery, disorderly intoxication, and trespassing.

I’m not familiar with LuAnn’s arrest and the aftermath so I’ll leave that out and if someone wants to give me the 411 on that, cool. But the difference between Shannon and Karen is that Shannon showed remorse, didn’t she? She was willing to speak about it on camera and showed up to court whenever she could and fulfilled or is currently fulfilling her legal and financial obligations isn’t she? Whatever the court is telling her to do, she’s been doing and she is taking small steps to improve as far I know. I don’t watch RHOP, but isn’t Karen acting like she’s above the law and is trying to avoid addressing the situation? I also heard she refused to show up to hearings if she wasn’t absolutely legally required to do so?

Well, I hope for her own sake (and even more so for the sake of those who have had to endure her drunkenness ?) this is sincere, but we all know that the timing of this says otherwise. This is for her impending sentencing and I’m sure it will be a mitigating factor as it should be to some degree. ? HOWEVER, that body cam video does not lie. That is someone who cannot so easily be humbled at least on any genuine level that has any appreciable staying power. I’m not saying it’s impossible that it nonetheless will… https://media2.giphy.com/media/fklNpS1AZII59mpPSJ/giphy-downsized-small.mp4
