Teddi Mellencamp has been making headlines lately, not just for her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but also for her ongoing divorce from Edwin Arroyave. While she has shared some details about her split on her podcast Diamonds in the Rough, the reality star is making it clear that she’s not going to reveal everything—especially when it comes to personal matters involving her children.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, Teddi addressed the public’s curiosity about her divorce, which she announced in November after over a decade of marriage. Although she’s been open about the situation in some ways, Teddi isn’t interested in oversharing—especially when it comes to her kids’ privacy.
When asked why she’s been reluctant to dive deeper into the details of her divorce, Teddi Mellencamp gave a candid response, “My response was gonna be like, ‘I’m not paid to be on a television show to do that anymore.’” However, her Diamonds in the Rough podcast co-host, Erika Jayne, was quick to remind her that she’s still a public figure, saying, “You’re in the public eye.”
Despite the pressure to share more, Teddi is staying firm in her decision. “My response is to listen to the latest podcast of Diamonds in the Rough, and then you’re gonna hear as much as you probably need to hear or want to hear,” she added. “I’m just not gonna share much more, like, kids are involved.”
Teddi filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage. It was later confirmed that Teddi had an affair with her daughters horse trainer, Simon Schroeder, who was also married and expecting.
Despite the challenges she’s facing, Teddi remains optimistic and focused on finding peace. In her interview, she shared that she’s working hard to “show the good, the bad, and the ugly” as she navigates this new chapter.
While Teddi may be keeping certain things close to the chest, not everyone agrees with her decision to hold back. Former Real Housewives star Crystal Minkoff recently weighed in, saying she believes Teddi owes it to her audience to be more open about her divorce. “I don’t think it’s a requirement for a podcast to be open and vulnerable. Every podcast is different. But do I think Teddi should be required? Yes,” Crystal said.
Her stance? “If Teddi’s gonna come after everybody, she should open up more.” However, Crystal also acknowledged that honesty is a personal choice, and that she doesn’t feel the need to be open about everything herself. Still, she believes transparency is important when you’re in the public eye.
