Brynn Whitfield Speaks Out On The “Angry Black Woman” Comment Amid Backlash; Says It Is Being Conveyed Without Context

Brynn Whitfield threatens to "put people in the funeral home" in the dramatic RHONY reunion trailer.

Real Housewives of New York star Brynn Whitfield is speaking out in regards to the heated argument she got into with her co-star Ubah Hassan.

On the most recent episode of RHONY, after Brynn and Utah got into a heated argument, Brynn said she wanted to make sure her friend didn’t come across as angry. She revealed in her confessional that she did not want Ubah to be perceived as an “angry black woman.”

Brynn was worried that if she came off angry, Ubah’s boyfriend, Oliver Dachsel, would not want to marry her. Brynn has since gotten tons of backlash leading her to release a statement on her Instagram story where she said an “off camera interaction were conveyed without context.”

Brynn Whitfield Official Statement

Brynn Whitfield did apologize to viewers saying she “deeply regrets” what happened adding that she was sorry if she overstepped. Brynn did note that the episode was made to appear that she was bringing up this stereotype out of no where which was furthest from the truth.

Brynn says, “The truth is, ‘angry black woman,’ was brought up by Ubah last year in Anguilla.” Brynn says that after the incident in Anguilla, the two of them would discuss the harmful stereotype.

Brynn hopes that the “powerful 4th wall moment that happened in Anguilla, well before the Hamptons, will be shown at this years reunion.”

The Real Housewives of New York airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Thoughts on Brynn’s statement?

Although Brynn does favor Khloe K (who is allegedly half black), I think she also favors Carly Simon. I'm sure many people reading this are wondering "Who's Carly Simon?", https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/92a4859b5b67afd576938af15fe87648730981e624a5420aaa8f62a0ab6e72bd.jpg

Something doesn't seem right with Brynn's story. I would love to see some receipts on girlfriend's alleged black heritage ... j/s. The dad is (conveniently) dead, but I think the jailbird mother is still alive.

Brynn oversteps all the time, on purpose. Ubah sees Brynn for who she really is and openly called her out so if Brynn thinks that remark will silence Ubah, think again. My thoughts are that Brynn has clearly suppressed her black side for the majority of her life and jealous because Ubah has Oliver, the type of man she wants. Maybe it's just me but I'm frustrated with the whole cast because they sit around and have these kumbaya moments and sweep things under the rug. They act as if they're scared of one another and as a side note, Sai is walking toxicity. Ubah can go from 0-100 and has her moments too but Brynn is a black woman so I'm glad she's getting backlash for that comment, it's well deserved. Brynn acts as if she has self hate and uses that sex shtick to cover her deep insecurities, troubling.

One of the only episodes I watched was Ubah going nuts on Erin over sunglasses. That woman was unhinged. And what is a 4th wall?? Anyway, I'm done with the whole race thing. Especially for these privileged ladies.

You're soooo right, I remember that and I was upset with Ubah, I thought it was just TOO MUCH. Over the race thing too but had to call it as I see it. With all the good and blessings they have...sigh...

I don’t watch this trash because I’m forever bitter about the reboot BUT isn’t Brynn herself bwc (black when convenient) a la Meghan Markle? Or is her supposed (undetectable) blackness too diluted to ever challenge the sacred cows of leftist identity politics with…*gasp* the TRUTH? Nooooo! We can’t have ACTUAL truth in society anymore, not without DEI ownership (i.e., complete and utter bastardization) of the truth! Heaven forbid! ?? And yeah… https://media1.giphy.com/media/dGAXQjzy5mKjPLgJGF/giphy-downsized-small.mp4

Yep, black when convenient!

Not to be confused with "Big White C**k" (which Brynn is clearly into as well). https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/29d28a04dfc70572e2429c91d07db4c8c82239506690004c9951a6ac7f46d9c0.jpg

Yes! Brynn is the poor little black girl discarded by her white mama, left to be raised by a white grandmother who didn’t know what to do with her hair. At other times she’s the half white hottie once engaged to an uber rich Brit who still hasn’t got over her. She has the whole deck of race cards.
