Brittany Cartwright Calls Marriage To Jax Taylor ‘Toxic’

Brittany Cartwright says she does “everything” for “toddler” Jax Taylor in their “toxic” marriage.

Vanderpump Rules alum Brittany Cartwright claims that her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, didn’t pull his weight in their 5-year marriage, which is one of the reasons she decided to leave.

“I’m taking care of my toddler, and I’m also taking care of another toddler named Jax Taylor because I basically do everything for the household,” the 35-year-old told PEOPLE.

She added, “I just want to feel appreciated and want to feel wanted by the person that I’m married to.”

Brittany Cartwright also admitted that working with Jax on their podcast and at Jax’s new bar has been especially difficult amid their marital issues.

“It definitely can be challenging,” she said. “I still love Jax very much, but he is a hard person to deal with, and I think everybody in the world knows that.”

While Brittany isn’t sure where her marriage with Jax will end up, she’s glad they are no longer “fighting in front of” Cruz.

“That’s what is most important right now,” she said. “Because that’s why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place.”

“We’ve got to make money for our future, for our son, for his future. That’s what really matters,” she continued, saying that it’s important they remain amicable as they co-parent their son. “We’re going to be in each other’s lives no matter what, whether we get back together or we don’t, so I’d rather us be able to be around each other than absolutely hate each other. Let’s just pray it doesn’t get that far.”

The Valley star also explained that she moved out of their marital home and into an Airbnb to “get out of a toxic situation.”

“He just needs to calm down. He’s got a lot of different things that he always puts on me,” she said. “I’m always feeling the pressure of having to deal with things that are going on with him, and that can be really hard.”

On February 29, Brittany Cartwright announced that she and Jax were “taking time apart.” The Vanderpump Rules alum announced the news on her and Jax’s podcast, When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany.

“Yes, marriages in general are very hard, and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” the Kentucky native said in the episode.

“Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

The 35-year-old didn’t reveal what led to the split, noting that she “won’t get into too many details because this is still very hard to talk about.”

“I’m taking things one day at a time,” she added. “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright met in 2015 at the Gold Spike Lounge in Las Vegas. The Kentucky native quickly moved to Los Angeles to be with Jax and first appeared on season 4 of Vanderpump Rules. By 2016, Brittany had landed a job at SUR and became an official VPR cast member

After some ups and downs in their relationship, Jax proposed in June 2018, and the couple said ‘I do’ a little more than a year later, in 2019.

They welcomed their son, Cruz, in April 2021.

Only time will tell if Brittany and Jax can fix their marriage, but stay glued to AllAboutTRH for all the latest updates as they come.

The Valley airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm on Bravo.
