The Real Housewives of New York City Season 14 Premiere To Low Ratings Despite Positive Feedback

Racquel Chevremont joins RHONY S15 cast alongside current starsSai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield

The Real Housewives of New York reboot ratings are lower than expected despite getting positive feedback.

Following the season 14 premiere of the Real Housewives of New York on Sunday, Andy teased that more Real Housewives reboots could be coming.

On Threads, Andy Cohen did a Q&A with fans, which is when one fan asked, “Now that RHONY has had such positive feedback, are you thinking about rebooting other franchises?”

Andy replied with a thinking face emoji insinuating that Real Housewives reboots could be a new thing for Bravo. But it looks like the ratings didn’t pull in like the Bravo producer hoped. The season 14 premiere brought in 0.672 million viewers (0.22 18-49 demo)

Interesting to note that The Real Housewives of New York season 13 all-time season low had higher numbers than the season 14 premiere.

During season 13, RHONY had only 764,000 viewers tune in making episode eight an all-time low. Viewers begged Bravo to bring Dorinda Medley back but instead Bravo announced a pause following a refresh, rebooting RHONY with an all-new cast for season 14.

If ratings continue like this, Bravo may come to the realization that they made a rash decision bringing on a whole new cast.

However the ratings did do better than Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps spin-off show: Crappie Lake as episode 4 brought in 0.542 million viewers.
Tons of viewers seemed surprised by the ratings saying that the Real Housewives of Dubai even performed better.

Other housewives have had spin-offs from the franchise that also did better.

Bethenny Frankel spin-off was very successful with ratings as high as 1.35 million while viewership for Teresa Giudice special, Teresa checks in averaged roughly the same with 1.3 million viewers.

Are you surprised by the low ratings?

Why mess with the tried and true we tune in for the characters we like. just like a soap opera. Sometimes a character leaves then comes back. PLOT twist! then we move on. Wait injecting these wanna be people we dont have an interest in and stop replacing everyone. I am done along with the other 500K or so people who said NO thank you to shoving this garbage down my throat.

Thanks Andy! Replacing the entire cast helped me to gain time back I would have spent watching, had it been the original cast. To he honest, I'm done with the entire HW franchise. I'm bored watching women who have trouble putting an intelligent sentence together (Gudice). I'm insulted watching people who make their fortunes by being nasty, self absorbed, and shallow. Scripted or not, these programs add absolutely no value to my life any longer.

I WONT BE WATCHING NEW YORK AT ALL! Down to ONLY watching OC & Beverly Hills!

Meh. I watched and am hopeful there could be some fun among these women but so far, I’m having trouble keeping them straight-except for the one with the huge glasses. I hope they’re all filthy rich and we can get back to watching silly, pampered women in NYC.

Sincerely hope Andy's idea to throw the baby out with the bathwater backfires, but doubt he will ever admit his mistake. The way they handled RHONY left a bad taste in my mouth so I'm not watching any reboot. Leah was the demise of this show, getting rid of her and keeping some of the OGs would have kept most fans of the show engaged but now people don't care to invest time in learning about a whole new cast.

*cough Eboni cough*

I agree Eboni was a bit much but I wouldn't mind seeing her for another season without such a production driven storyline.

Nobody watches tv shows live anymore, we all stream. Live numbers are falling in general and will continue to fall, its the 3 days of streaming after that is important. This is to do without outdated technology

Casting is horrible! I’ll skip it! I barely got through it.

No. I personally have no interest in a reboot and learning a whole new cast. Im pretty much over the housewives franchises. They ruined what used to be mindless entertainment.

The last few years have been way too dark, too much bullying, bring back the real wealth and charity events, too much bad casting, and not enough Firings of the bad eggs! The OC is better this season, but Gina still making parts unwatchable. They need to find a wealthy, involved in the area , charitable woman to replace her like original HW mission. BH better be less dark, less gang up on one or two HW although I don’t think that franchise will recover until Erika G. is gone with nearly $5 million of unpaid tax debt to US Gov. while she lives as a millionaire (and Bravo thinks we are entertained while we watch this unfair charade.) To think HW used to have HW who actually gave to charities, actually hosted charity events and parties (has Erika hosted any parties or charity events but 1 in 6 years ???, how is she still there) and helped the communities. And they wonder why people aren’t watching.

Agree about BH. Don’t think OC is any better. I can’t stand Gina, Emily, Tanya, Shannon, or Taylor. I used to like Heather but she seems to be acting this year. The new girl Jen is ok so far but my gut tells me I’ll be tired of her soon. And Vicki, just ugh.

They did a good job on casting yes. However, The RHONY numbers are low considering the sheer vast amount of advertising dollars and promotional push online money that went into trying to get people to watch the premiere. No other premiere HW show has had even close to that support…they barely even promoted NJ and OC starts dates this season outside of on Bravo but RHONY was advertised everywhere! You can’t spend that type of money and get these low of returns and call it success. And the original RHONY was above 1 million viewers consistently for over 11 years until Andy brought on Leah, who viewers begged him not to bring back for a second season and he absolutely refused to listen…from the day Leah joined ratings started to nose dive she was so toxic to the cast and show and only then did NY rating go down and in the 2 seasons Leah was on ratings went from 1.2 million viewers to 750,000 viewers by the last episode and it was pulled. If Leah was pulled, that drastic nose dive of ratings would not have happened. Sure some decline, but not what happened. Fans were making a point to Bravo and Andy, like a boycott for not removing Leah from the cast. It was all over Twitter and FB. Andy picked Leah himself for casting and he was not going to accept the audience did not like Leah because him and his NY crowd of celebrities and New Yorkers just loved Leah. Sometimes Andy refuses to admit being wrong and see outside his window and this was absolutely one of those times.

* Let me add, that RHONY was pulled at 750,000 viewers for reboot, after only reaching that low number once or twice after consistently high ratings. It did appear a bit like a backlash more to the fans for not accepting the casting changes. There were casting issues, but nothing even close to as challenging than what is on NJ and was worked out. Instead of removing one cast member, Bravo and Andy tanked the whole show! Quite spiteful.

I agree and think Sonja should’ve been let go years ago. She has serious issues.
Jshappyday July 19, 2023 - 3:28 pm
Fans really have a strong love or dislike relationship with Sonia. Sonia did really well when she was super rich. That was her sweet spot for her crazy Now that she is struggling without the Bravo paycheck and her support now that her child is older she is struggling a bit in the Grey Gardens world. She does still have a very wicked sense of humor and many good one liners.
marlin July 19, 2023 - 5:49 pm
Yes. Put me in the very strong dislike for Sonja since day one, sorry.
Niki July 19, 2023 - 2:09 pm
Not surprised. Everyone saw this coming but Bravo. We want our OGs!
