Some don’t believe Melissa Gorga has what it takes to carry the show on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Behind Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga is the second longest-running Housewife on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. The 44-year-old joined the RHONJ cast during season 3 in 2011. She has been on the hit show for 10 seasons.
Melissa joined the show after messaging RHONJ OG Danielle Staub and producers on Facebook to let them know about her drama with sister-in-law Teresa Giudice. Melissa even shared a Facebook post about her and Teresa’s famous sprinkle cookie gate, which caught the eye of producers.
Since joining RHONJ in 2011, Melissa has denied that she joined RHONJ behind Teresa’s back. Yet, former RHONJ producer Carlos King publicly confirmed in 2022 that Teresa Giudice had no idea that Melissa and Joe Gorga were interviewing and ultimately cast on the show for season 3 until a week before filming commenced. Carlos also stated that Melissa added all the producers for the Real Housewives of New Jersey on Facebook, including him.
While appearing on The Juicy Scoop podcast, Carlos admitted that Melissa was not telling the truth about how she joined RHONJ and insisted that she did, in fact, come on the show behind Teresa’s back.
Carlos recalled: “She said, ‘Oh my gosh, I just learned that my sister-in-law and my brother are cast members on this show. I did not know that until now.’ She had no idea.“
Now, in 2023, Carlos reveals that he doesn’t believe Melissa can carry RHONJ as Teresa has done for the last thirteen seasons.
The former RHONJ producer gets that Melissa has her “stans” as “she should, she’s been on the show for 10 years,” however that doesn’t mean he thinks Melissa has what it takes to lead the cast of RHONJ.
“I just don’t know what a show would be like without Teresa and [if] Melissa is in charge of the girls. She can barely be in charge of Envy, her store, and the website. She can barely be in charge of the crib,” Carlos explained on his Reality With the King podcast.
He continued, “I don’t think Melissa is a forced multiplier. I think she’s a forced divider. I don’t think she can carry the show. She can barely carry clothes in her store.”
The 44-year-old is waiting to know her fate on the Real Housewives of New Jersey ahead of season 14.
Melissa has denied having any plans to exit the Real Housewives of New Jersey, but that doesn’t mean the network won’t eventually kick her to the curb. At this point, anything is possible when it comes to New Jersey Housewives franchise.
“I have no intentions on leaving [RHONJ],” the 44-year-old said during a May episode of her On Display podcast.
Contracts for season 14 of RHONJ have not been sent out yet. No one in the RHONJ cast has been fired or asked back for next season – yet.
The current plan is that filming for season 14 will begin at the “end of August.”
