Melissa Gorga wants fans to know she was scouted to join the Real Housewives of New Jersey and that she didn’t go out seeking to join the show her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice was already a part of.
During a recent interview, the longtime reality TV star was “How did it happen? Did you just apply for casting?”
Melissa explained that she didn’t go looking to join the show, saying, “For me, they DM’ed me on Facebook. The casting agents’ DM’d me on Facebook, which is not uncommon, by the way.”
“I know a lot of ladies who got casted have been DM’d through social media, so that’s their MO. That’s kind of how they find you. They say, like, ‘Hey, I’m a casting agent on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Can we talk to you?’ And it just kind of goes from there,” Melissa elaborated.
However, Andy Cohen and Bethenny Frankel recently discussed the Real Housewives casting process on an episode of Watch What Happens Live earlier this month and basically called BS on Melissa’s claim.
“You don’t get drafted to be on a reality show. I mean, you chose to do it,” Andy quipped, with Bethenny adding, “Exactly.”
