Frank Catania attempted to play peacemaker when the drama went down while filming season 13 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey; however, from the looks of it, his efforts were an exercise in futility.
The fan-favorite househusband tells Page Six that he tried to “keep the peace” when the drama went down between Joe and Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice and Louie Ruelas at the RHONJ season 13 finale.
The finale party took place at Dolores Catania’s boyfriend Paul “Paulie” Connell’s house, and according to Frank, Paulie took the drama in stride.
“We go to the party, and it was nice! You’ll see, it’s a theme party, and it was great,” Frank explained. “Listen, Paulie did an excellent job. His place was set up so beautifully … [but] we didn’t even get to all of the themes that he set up because it got so crazy.”
As for the drama, Frank didn’t want to give too much away but said: “Let’s put it this way: There had to be people in between the women; there had to be people in between the men.”
Those “people” included himself, security guards, and other RHONJ cast members.
“I always try to keep the peace and calm everybody down,” he admitted. “But it’s a hard crowd to keep down!”
“There’s a lot that happened after the finale, which determined what happened at the wedding, which is a shame,” he added.
As we previously reported, Joe and Melissa skipped Teresa and Louie’s wedding after their blowout at the finale.
This move saddened Frank as he wishes Joe walked Teresa down the aisle and saw her get married.
“To see Teresa come out of the church and walk down the aisle by herself when everybody knows it should’ve been Joe next to her. … He’s the only one left, and it’s a small family,” he said.
“That bothered me because you can’t get that back. You’re not gonna get that back. You can’t go, ‘Oh, let’s redo it.’ You’re not gonna redo it. So that was the one thing that bothered me,” Frank contained. “And I’ve spoken to Joe about it — [he and Melissa] have very strong, strong feelings for this one. And to be honest with you, I am not optimistic on this relationship coming back together.”
When it comes to taking sides, Frank says he’s definitely caught in the middle as he’s friends with both couples.
“I’m a little bit in the middle because I’m friends with both of them,” he confessed, “Joe would’ve liked very much if I didn’t go [to the wedding] to support him, but when I told him, ‘No, Joe, that’s not gonna happen,’ he didn’t give me a hard time at all.”
RHONJ will return for season 13 in late 2022 or early 2023.
