B is for Bethenny, and Bethenny is business savvy!
There is no denying that Bethenny Frankel of The Real Housewives of New York is very successful. She started from nothing and built an entire brand – just look at her ‘Skinny Girl’ empire! Plus she flips properties on her other Bravo show Bethenny & Fredrik. It turns out even before she was a rich businesswoman and entrepreneur, she was smart about her decisions. Back when Bethenny was doing season one of RHONY, she only made $7,250 dollars. For the entire season! That is crazy considering how much they all make these days per episode alone. However; just because they didn’t get paid as much back then does not mean that Bethenny didn’t get the best contract out of the bunch.
According to CNBC, Bethenny, “even negotiated her way to a standout contract for season one of “Housewives” which aired in 2008.” Bethenny stated, “I’m a good negotiator.” This is evident on the show. Remember when she got the asking price for her Tribeca apartment? The Bravo beauty also revealed she, “was the only person to put in my contract that anything I ever do, I own. And that ended up being a pretty good thing when it came to Skinnygirl.” In 2011 she sold her Skinnygirl cocktails for a reported $100 million dollars! Go girl!
Apparently the initial contract that Bethenny first received, included a clause stating that Bravo would receive a percentage of any business she promoted on the show. Bethenny didn’t sign it. She negotiated her way out of it and that was probably one of the best decisions of her life!
I’m really happy for Bethenny. I think it’s incredible that she built a successful brand all on her own. People can love her or hate her, but she definitely is smart and a hard worker. Nobody can take that away from her. I wish her continued success and look forward to seeing what this season has to offer! Cheers to RHONY being back!
