Real Housewives of Miami

“Real Housewives of Miami,” affectionately called RHOM, is the seventh installment in Bravo’s mega-popular franchise. The show premiered in February 2011 and was originally conceived as a spinoff of the network’s “Miami Social” reality series. Set in sunny, sexy Miami, coverage focuses on six influential socialites and their friends as they deal with marriage, divorce, prenuptials and the challenges of the privileged life. The third season of RHOM concluded in early November 2013. Bravo officials have neither renewed the show nor approved a fourth season. This has fueled continual rumors among cast members and fans who can’t wait to see the saga continue.

The “Real Housewives” franchise is famous for showing socialites at their best and brattiest, and “Real Housewives of Miami” is no exception. Women who are very different and extremely volatile towards each other have their actions caught on camera. Fancy parties, beaches and cat fights are all main features of the show. The five most popular characters are discussed below.

Adriana de Moura

This Brazilian beauty loves to cause conflict by feuding with the other housewives at dinners, parties and even at art shows. She and fellow housewife Joanna Krupa had a fiery exchanging of words when they started planning their weddings at the same time. Adriana has since married a wealthy Frenchman whose reported net worth is $15 million.

Joanna Krupa

This Polish American supermodel was the center of attention for a sizable portion of the show’s final two seasons. Her most memorable scenes on the show included a standoff with Girls Gone Wild powerhouse Joe Francis as well as a physical confrontation with one of the cast members.

Lea Black

Lea is older, and she’s the most levelheaded of the Miami socialites. She hosts the Blacks’ annual gala, which always includes drunken fun alongside charitable donations. Lea’s galas are important events that occur in every season.

Lisa Hochstein

Lisa’s blonde hair and flawless makeup routine are combined with straightforward sensibility. She refuses to take sides during many of the show’s most infamous feuds. Lisa enjoys hosting parties of her own, but the drama level is always high at her special events. She admires Lea’s success as a hostess and attempts to remain friends with everyone in the group.

Alexia Echevarria

This Cuban magazine editor uses her role as a housewife to bring exposure to her magazine and other projects. However, everything changes after the first season when her son Frankie is involved in a car accident. Alexia can be seen in newer episodes as she shares her feelings with the group. Ultimately, her role as a housewife is minimized after the accident, but her fans can catch up on the latest news in her life by watching the final season.

Original Cast Members

The first season of RHOM focused on Alexia Echevarria, Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice. Primary cast members Adriana de Moura, Lea Black and Marysol Patton were featured in the first season and have remained staples throughout the show’s duration. In season two, producers added fan favorites Lisa Hockstein and Joanna Krupa to the cast along with Ana Quincoces and Karent Sierra, who both left after one year. In the third season, Alexia Echevarria returned, and several former housewives made repeat appearances as friends and guests.

Season Highlights

As a cast, these Miami housewives have seen many ups and downs. Season one was filled with galas, parties and high-profile events that were ruined by party crashers, calamities and Alexia’s dramatic car accident. Thanks to the addition of new cast members in season two, alliances were broken, and back-stabbing feuds began. Immediately before season three started filming, Marysol’s mother Elsa suffered a debilitating stroke. This tragedy was balanced by two weddings. Adriana married French designer Frederic Marq amid rumors that the couple had secretly tied the knot five years before the show aired. At the same time, Joanna Krupa married longtime fiancé, nightclub owner and certifiable hunk Romain Zago.
