Kim Zolciak of the Real Housewives of Atlanta has shocked fans by filing for divorce from her husband Kroy Biermann. Kim and Kroy both met through Sheree Whitfield back in May of 2010.

Throughout the years, Kim has expressed how head over heels she is for her husband Kroy.

That feeling wore off because Kim has officially filed for divorce describing the marriage as “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.” According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ, Kim listed April 30th as the date of separation. 

Kim and Kroy have been married for 11 years and had 4 kids with each other. Kim is asking for primary physical custody of the kids and joint legal custody. She also wants spousal support and to get her maiden name back legally.

It seems as though money is the biggest reason for the marital issues. Kim and her husband Kroy owe $1.1 million to the IRS in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties from 2013, 2017, and 2018. TMZ reports that they also owe the state of Georgia $15,000 for unpaid taxes.

Kim and Kroy’s home entered foreclosure in February but they were able to get it off foreclosure while denying financial issues.

Kim Zolciak reveals the secret to a successful marriage is lots of sex. Kim joked to E!,

“I think one of the biggest secrets is also communication. Choosing to love that person day in and day out, I think it’s a choice and a lot of times people are just so quick to throw in the towel.”

Kim also said that reality TV had no impact on her marriage explaining,

“Whether you’re married on camera or a regular person married, I don’t think there’s any difference. And I think when things get tough, people don’t want to stay true to their vows and stay true to their partner. They’d rather just say screw it and try it on the next one, but you got to hold true to your promises that you gave that person when you were standing in front of your friends and family.”

December 2022:
