Whitney and Ashley bonded through Shari Quai, Whitney’s longtime best friend who died in April 2023 after a battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Ashley is Shari’s sister-in-law, and after Shari’s passing, Ashley moved closer to her brother and Shari’s children. Whitney remained close to the family through their grief, which gave Ashley and Whitney a shared connection before Ashley ever joined RHOSLC. That is why viewers were surprised to see Whitney bring Ashley’s private conversations into the group so early in the season. On the latest episode, Whitney insinuated that Ashley had spoken about Meredith Marks before joining the show, referencing private conversations they had before cameras went up. Whitney also shared a personal story about Ashley allegedly putting the toothbrush of the man who would later become her husband into a toilet out of anger. Ashley has since appeared shocked by Whitney coming for her, especially given their personal history and the connection they shared through Shari.
