Lisa Rinna Says RHOBH Nearly Bankrupted Her & Unloads on Sutton Stracke’s Style and Body

Lisa Rinna is officially in her memoir era, and she is not pretending to be reflective and serene about it.

In the memoir, You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It, Lisa reflects on her decision to step away from Bravo and suggests it might have been better for her bottom line than continuing to pour cash into wardrobes for television. As she puts it, “After spending my life savings to look good on air, its probably a blessing in disguise that I left before bankruptcy.”

But she doesn’t stop at her own closet woes. Rinna gives herself what might be the politest possible grade — “Overall, I give myself an A minus for my fashion choices on the show” — before launching into her most targeted critique: her former castmate Sutton Stracke.

On Sutton, Rinna spares no words: “Let’s start with Sutton who is living proof money can’t buy you taste … I had to pretend that her outfit was cute. That’s some of the best acting I’ve ever done.” She goes on with a line that’s already sparking conversation: “She’s frumpy, there’s no sex appeal about her whatsoever, and she’s got a weird body. So God bless her.”

That last bit especially has raised eyebrows online. Many critics have pointed out the sharp tone — particularly around Sutton’s body — as strikingly contrasted with Rinna’s own public support of her daughter through body image struggles.

Context matters here: Sutton has long been positioned as a fashion influencer in the Bravo universe, attending couture shows and rubbing shoulders with luxe brands. Whether audiences agreed with Rinna’s judgment is another question — but her framing of it leaves little room for ambiguity.

And of course, this is just one slice of what promises to be a no-holds-barred memoir. Lisa’s telling more than just wardrobe tales — she opens up about Hollywood, aging, family, and the things Bravo didn’t show — all in a very Rinna way.
