The tea is hot, and Kandi Burruss is finally talking.
During the Sunday, Feb. 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star did not hold back when Andy Cohen asked about her split from Todd Tucker after 11 years of marriage.
And according to Kandi, the end wasn’t gradual.
“It happened in July,” Burruss revealed. “In July was when I was like, ‘Oh, yeah. No, I can’t do this no more.’ ”
When Cohen pressed her for details and asked, “Was there a specific moment or thing that happened?” Kandi made it clear this was not random.
“Yeah, it was a specific situation that happened,” she said, before adding, “I’m not talking about it on Watch What Happens.”
Despite the mystery “specific situation,” Kandi insists the split has not turned into an all-out war.
She admitted that “sometimes our conversations can get a little intense” while working through divorce logistics.
But she also made it clear they are trying to keep it respectful.
“For the most part, even if we argue, we still try to be nice to each other,” she explained. “We’re co-parenting. Last night, we went to my son’s basketball game. So, we were there sitting right next to each other. I’m sure people was like, ‘Uh…’ ”
Yes, we would be like “Uh…”
Still, Kandi says the goal is bigger than the drama.
“But I feel like once we’re done with this, I really feel that we will be able to be great co-parents,” she continued, “because our ultimate goal is to make sure that all of our kids are happy and that they don’t feel the brunt of our drama.”
The former couple share son Ace, 9, and daughter Blaze, 6.
Fans have speculated that Todd is contesting their prenuptial agreement, which viewers saw them sign during Kandi’s Wedding back in 2014.
But Kandi says that narrative is not accurate.
“He actually isn’t contesting. They threatened to contest it,” she clarified. “They said that if we do not come to terms, that they feel that they have a way to contest it. So, I think that is the misunderstanding of the internet.”
She added that the issue has never gone beyond that.
“We’ve never actually had conversations about it being anything other than that. You know what I’m saying? So, he’s like, ‘Well, I don’t want people to feel that I’m…’ I’m like, ‘Well, people feel that way because your lawyer put it in there.’ ”
Translation: blame the paperwork, not the husband.
And What About Mama Joyce?
If you watched RHOA, you know Mama Joyce never hid her feelings about Todd. So how is she handling this?
Surprisingly calm.
“She has actually been pretty calm,” Kandi shared.
And apparently, Mama Joyce is trying to stay out of it.
“She’s been trying to not say too much, not to get into it. Sometimes the internet, conversations with people, their opinions about our divorce, can get in her head, and she’s like, ‘Well, they said that you need…’ ”
Kandi’s response?
“ ‘Ma, I don’t care.’ ”
Because, as she put it, “They don’t really know what’s happening between he and I. We’re doing our best to get along and get through this moment, because we honestly don’t have a lot that we’re disagreeing about.”
