Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant are weighing in on Karen Huger’s recent public statements following her release from prison, and Robyn isn’t convinced much has changed.
On the latest episode of their podcast Reasonably Shady, the former Real Housewives of Potomac stars discussed Karen’s post-release interview and whether she truly accepted responsibility after her fourth DUI.
Robyn made it clear she didn’t want to go “too deep” publicly, hinting she may expand her thoughts behind the podcast’s paywall. But even her restrained comments painted a clear picture.
“I feel like I saw the same person,” Robyn said. “The same person from years prior, the same person that I’ve known over the years. That was the same person who did that interview.”
When Gizelle asked her to clarify, Robyn pointed to what she saw as familiar patterns.
According to Robyn, Karen showed “some accountability,” but not in the way she hoped. She said she wanted to see a direct and sincere acknowledgement of how serious drunk driving is — and a message aimed at victims and families affected by it.
“What I really wanted to see from her was a sincere apology or a sincere acknowledgement that drunk driving is never okay,” Robyn explained. “This is a really serious matter.”
Instead, Robyn felt Karen shifted blame and softened the severity of the situation. She described the interview as containing “a lot of deflection,” and said Karen appeared hesitant to fully embrace discussions around alcoholism, instead emphasizing prescription medication.
Robyn suggested that framing could unintentionally redirect responsibility toward doctors rather than focusing on personal accountability.
She also criticized what she called an unnecessary dig Karen made toward castmate Wendy Osefo during the interview, arguing that it distracted from what should have been a moment centered on remorse and reflection.
She said, “And then, but I’m just saying, like, her throwing a dig at Wendy because she lives far away and who would talk to Wendy? Like, that was unnecessary. It was, no, just, let’s just take accountability and let’s not deflect. Let’s just kind of address the topic head on and be kind of remorseful and let’s try to like, send a message to the people out here.
Robyn explained, “Like, I am sorry because I know a lot of people have lost loved ones from drunk drivers and that is never okay. Because she even tried to not even say that she was drunk. Like, I don’t know. It was weird. She tried to downplay. Andy said, oh, you had four DUIs. No, I had two.
“Let’s just take accountability and not deflect,” Robyn said. “Just address the topic head on and be remorseful.”
“Just own it,” she said plainly.
