Jill Zarin is speaking out after being dropped from E!’s upcoming RHONY reunion-style series The Golden Life following backlash over her comments about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

“They didn’t even give me a chance,” the former Real Housewives of New York City star told In Touch. “I took it down right away. People make mistakes. I’m human.”

Zarin had originally been announced as part of the cast for The Golden Life, a new docuseries reuniting several original RHONY stars in Palm Beach. But after her Instagram video criticizing Bad Bunny’s performance circulated online, producers decided to cut ties.

“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life,’” the production company said in a statement to Variety. “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”

In the now-deleted video, Zarin called the halftime show “the worst ever” and questioned the decision to feature a performance largely in Spanish. She also described parts of the show as inappropriate for younger viewers and suggested it felt political.

The comments sparked swift criticism online, with many accusing Zarin of cultural insensitivity. She removed the video shortly after posting it, but the backlash had already gained momentum.

Zarin maintains that the situation escalated faster than she expected and says she regrets how it played out. Her removal from the series marks a sudden shift for a project that was being marketed heavily around nostalgia for the original New York cast.

The Golden Life is still moving forward without her.

I only know him from the recent Grammy shitshow, where the stupid host was clearly obsessed with promoting this creepy looking Ricky Martin wannabe sitting in the audience, and who apparently then won a lot of awards. I remember that performance. Ricky Martin was amazing. He tore the place apart. I think Madonna ran up to the stage dancing. And then he disappeared. WHY??? I still listen to his music from that time. How could Rap music replace someone like him? He was so hot. Still is.

Aw, that's too bad. Jill, if you're listening, you're going about this all wrong. Enough with the phony apologies ... here's some free advice. Finally cut your ties with NBC (fck Bravo and E!, because they're hanging by a thread anyway). Then start a coalition with Kelly Leventhal, Siggy, Jenni Nguyan, and a few of the Dallas ladies, along with every other Conservative HW whose been wrongfully exiled. Hopefully, one day political affiliation will become a protected class (just like race, age, religion, and sexual orientation etc,), but until then, all they can do is blow the whistle ((loudly)). I would even try to get Bethenny and Ramona on board. It seems to me that the attention they would get doing this would far exceed what little benefits they would be getting on Bravo's sister (E! channel). It isn't like any of them need the money. BTW, if Jill is out, I'm betting Slurinda is in.

My only surprise is that there are people like Jill who still don't understand that we don't have free speech any longer. Well, if you're a certain race you don't anyway. The other races have an abundance of free speech. She didn't really say anything bad. Just stated her opinion. Andy Cohen must be gleeful given he told E! to fire her. I didn't see her comments, but I was disappointed with her apparent ass-kissing retraction. I was never a huge fan either, as I didn't sign on to RHONY until the "season 4 casting massacre". But I eventually took everyone's advice and caught up from the beginning which gave me an entirely different perspective on the show. Jill can be an obnoxiously overbearing yenta, and it apparently finally destroyed her. A little sidenote that I found interesting; in one of Andy's rare truly revealing moments (on SIRIUS), he shed some light on Jill's journey. Right around season 10 (and unbeknownst to Jill), Andy decided to finally throw her a bone and bring her back. Bravo's contract (offer) was signed and in the hands of a Fed Ex driver on its way to Jill when Andy got wind of Jill shooting off her mouth about him (again). He was able to catch the messenger literally at the door, retrieved the contract and then tore it up.
