While speaking on a recent episode of The Ed’s, Edwin shared insight into the challenges Teddi has faced behind the scenes, particularly when it comes to her mental health. According to him, one of the biggest struggles has been how much her daily routine has changed.

Edwin explained that Teddi, who has always relied heavily on movement and exercise as part of her lifestyle, has had to significantly slow down due to treatment. While she’s only recently begun easing back into light activity, the limitations — combined with the physical effects of immunotherapy — have taken a toll emotionally.

Teddi, who shares three children with Edwin, was first diagnosed with melanoma in late 2022. What began as stage II cancer later progressed, and by early 2025, doctors confirmed the disease had advanced to stage IV. Despite the severity of the diagnosis, scans taken in late 2025 showed no visible signs of cancer — a result Edwin described as nothing short of extraordinary.

He told his cohost that doctors gave incredibly low odds of the tumors disappearing, making the results feel almost impossible. Watching Teddi push through treatment, he said, has been both inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time.

When asked how Teddi has managed to stay grounded through everything, Edwin pointed to her growing spiritual connection. He shared that she’s leaned more heavily into her faith, finding comfort in scripture and moments of quiet reflection.

According to Edwin, reading even a single line can sometimes provide the reassurance Teddi needs to keep going — and that sense of peace has helped her mentally navigate the uncertainty of her health.

Teddi learned just how serious her condition was only a few months after she and Edwin publicly announced their separation. Despite the timing, Edwin said he never doubted her ability to survive.

He shared that before her diagnosis, he had conversations with people in his life who strongly believed Teddi would be healed — even warning him that her life would be turned upside down before that happened. Edwin admitted he chose to trust that message fully.

One moment that stayed with him was a conversation with his mother’s pastor, who reassured him that everything would ultimately be okay if he stayed focused on faith and positivity. From that point on, Edwin said he felt confident Teddi would come through the other side.

As Teddi continues her recovery, Edwin says the experience has also changed him — especially as a father. He explained that he’s become more involved in day-to-day parenting, from school emails to drop-offs, because moments like this set an example.

He emphasized that he wants his children to see what it looks like to show up for family during hard times — and to understand the importance of always treating their mother with respect.

Through illness, separation, and uncertainty, Edwin made it clear that one thing hasn’t changed: his commitment to being there for Teddi and their kids.
