The Traitors Season 4 may still be unfolding, but Porsha Williams says she clocked a traitor long before her own torch was snuffed.
After her early exit from the castle, Porsha opened up about her time on the show and revealed she knew fellow Housewife Candiace Dillard Bassett was a Traitor, and it all came down to one moment she says she couldn’t ignore.
Speaking to Parade, Porsha was asked about the confusing situation during the first Mission, when Candiace allegedly told her that Michael was targeting the Housewives, only to later deny it. When Michael claimed it never happened, Candiace reportedly told Porsha she must have misheard.
That explanation didn’t sit right with her.
“So of course, I knew that Maura was not going to back me up. Because the name of the game is to lay low, and you don’t want to be in the drama. So I understood that she wasn’t going to have my back,” Porsha explained. “But Candiace, I did not think that coming out of the gate, another Housewife would lie on me or lie to my face. Because in this game, there’s a sisterhood.”
According to Porsha, that unspoken Housewife alliance was everything. In a game built on deception, the Housewives were supposed to be the one group she felt safe with.
“That’s why we’re fighting the people who are hunting Housewives. The sisterhood is there so that if you’re ever in a situation and you need an ally, you have one there,” she said. “We can’t necessarily trust the gamers. We can’t trust the comedians. We can’t trust the actors or the athletes, right? So when we come in, we’re supposed to stick together.”
So when Candiace allegedly backtracked on what she had said about Michael, Porsha says the red flags were impossible to miss.
“So when she flat-out said, ‘Oh, he didn’t say it that night. He said it yesterday,’ I’m like, ‘I know that’s not true. You literally said he was on the boat and he screamed out, “Put it in a Housewife’s grave,”’” Porsha recalled. “I knew at that point, okay, Candiace, you must be a Traitor.”
Even with her suspicions, Porsha admits she couldn’t bring herself to immediately go after her fellow Housewife.
“But I didn’t want to go after her. Because she is a Housewife, and I’m supposed to give the benefit of the doubt,” she said. “Unless I was going to be able to bring hardcore truth or bring in other witnesses, which I did not have, because they were also being strategic, I knew that I could not come after her.”
Instead, Porsha kept her suspicions to herself, quietly filing them away as the game continued.
“So I knew that something was funny about her, and I knew that she had lied,” she added. “And I know now, okay, is Michael telling the truth, or is Michael a part of this as well? So it was kind of crazy. It was a crazy moment. But I had to just kind of chalk it up and note it and not do anything about it just yet, because she was a fellow Housewife.”
In the end, Porsha may not have lasted long in the castle, but it sounds like her instincts were right on the money.
