Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Angie Katsanevas and her husband Shawn Trujillo found themselves at the center of breakup speculation this week, and it all started with a few Instagram follows.
Fans began questioning the state of the couple’s marriage after noticing that Trujillo had followed multiple divorce-related and recovery-focused accounts, quickly igniting rumors that the longtime spouses might be headed for trouble.
Trujillo, however, says the speculation is completely off base.
In a statement to Reality Shrine, he pushed back on the assumptions, making it clear the follows had “nothing to do with Angie.”
“After all the assumptions and continued speculation,” he said, “I am compelled to defend who I’ve followed on social media.”
According to Trujillo, the activity was tied to helping someone close to him navigate a difficult personal situation. “I simply have someone close to me going through a rough time,” he explained, adding that the person often sends him pages and information related to what they’re experiencing. “It’s as simple as that.”
The speculation intensified when fans noticed Trujillo was also following an account focused on “female narcissist recovery” and another called Exposing the Mask, which describes itself as centered on healing from “narcissistic abuse.”
Acknowledging that public scrutiny comes with reality TV fame, Trujillo admitted he underestimated how closely his activity would be watched. “Moving forward, I will be more thoughtful on who the internet trolls see,” he said, adding that he takes responsibility for his “naivety.”
Despite the online buzz, Angie and Shawn recently celebrated a major relationship milestone. The couple marked their 26th wedding anniversary in June 2025, with Katsanevas sharing throwback photos from their early dating days, their 1999 wedding, and a more recent appearance together at Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
