“I Almost Walked Away for Good”: Kyle Richards Reveals the Moment She Realized She Couldn’t Quit RHOBH

Kyle Richards came closer than ever to walking away from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but one unexpected moment at home made her rethink everything. As season 15 approaches, she is opening up about why she almost quit and what she feared losing if she stepped away.

Kyle told Us Weekly that the turning point happened during a quiet day in her house. “I came home one day and it was very quiet in the house. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, if I do leave the show — even though I’m doing my other projects — it’s going to be such a big change in my life,’” she shared. She admitted she “had a hard time” deciding whether she wanted to keep living her life in front of Bravo cameras for another year.

Part of what held her back was how much the show has become woven into her daily world. “Obviously, the cast members, but the crew become a big part of your life too,” Kyle said. “This takes up a huge portion of my life. Every year, the majority is filled with Housewives stuff.”

Her hesitation grew even stronger after both Mauricio Umansky and their daughter Alexia moved out, something she described as “very jarring.” Leaving the show at the same time would have felt like yet another emotional blow. She explained that quitting would feel like “another weird loss” during an already difficult period.

“I didn’t think that would be good for me mentally. So I thought, maybe I’ll just hang in there another year and see how I do,” she added. “I’m getting stronger now.”

Season 14 captured Kyle navigating her separation from Mauricio while clashing with longtime friend Dorit Kemsley. Kyle and Mauricio announced their split in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage but have not filed for divorce. Now, heading into season 15, Kyle promises viewers will see a different version of her — one that is not ready to walk away just yet.

“Obviously, there will come a time,” she said. “I don’t know when that time will be.”
