Summer House star Ciara Miller is stepping in, and she’s not holding back, when it comes to defending her friend Venita Aspen amid her messy Season 11 tension with Craig Conover on Southern Charm.
Ciara, 29, jumped into the comments of a TikTok video discussing Venita’s storyline this season and made it clear she believes Venita isn’t getting a fair shot from her castmates — or from viewers.
“Imagine being the only Black girl on a predominantly white cast in the SOUTH,” Ciara wrote, adding that “no one ever sees Venita’s side.” She went on to claim that the cast “only expects her to be submissive to their opinions and limelight.”
Her comments came after TikToker @JoshtheRHONYstan posted a video saying he was firmly on Venita’s “side in all of the conflicts she’s had so far” this season — and pointing directly at Craig’s behavior.
The TikToker noted, “I don’t remember Craig ever acting like he has had any interest in being friends with Venita the entire time she’s been on the show,” before calling out Craig’s Watch What Happens Live moment where he said he would not be associated with Venita anymore. He pointed out that Craig said that “right around the time that casting was being figured out for this current season.”
He suggested that Venita’s real frustration might stem from Craig publicly distancing himself from her at the exact time cast decisions were being made. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Venita took Craig saying that as him trying to push her off the show or ice her out from the group and that’s the actual issue,” he said.
Ciara agreed — and then went even further.
“If a main cast ‘refuses’ to film with another main cast member; that’s code for trying to push them out,” she wrote. “So yes, your entire analysis of [this] situation is correct.”
Ciara also called out a larger issue she believes is at play — how Black women are treated by Bravo audiences.
“For some ‘odd’ reason, Black women/people are held to such an insanely high standard, we are rewarded less grace, and we must always be the bigger person in every situation, wronged or not,” she wrote. Meanwhile, she said, “our white counterparts can be as diabolical and disgusting and still remain fan favorites and don’t have to encounter 1/4 of the hate that we get simple for existing.”
She didn’t stop there — calling out the pay gap and lack of opportunities Black cast members face. They are “getting paid more, and getting to reap opportunities we have to quite literally jump up and down just to get noticed for,” Ciara alleged.
Ciara wrapped up her fiery defense with a clear directive for viewers: “Talk s*** about someone else, but don’t ever let it be Venita.”
And if fans do want to come for her? They better show their work. Ciara added that anyone blaming Venita must “bring AMPLE reasons,” and should also compare her behavior to their favorite white cast members. “I’ll bet she’s an angel,” she quipped.
