Jennifer Lawrence might be one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars, but her latest podcast appearance has stirred up drama worthy of a Real Housewives reunion.
During a chat on the November 5 episode of the Las Culturistas podcast with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the Hunger Games actress—who’s never been shy about her reality TV obsessions—brought up the newest season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. When the hosts confirmed they were watching, Lawrence immediately zeroed in on cast member Lisa Barlow.
The Oscar winner appeared to mock Barlow’s way of speaking while saying, “I won’t get [facial] threads, that’s good to know.” When Yang defended the reality star, saying, “I think she looks good,” Lawrence shot back with a sarcastic, “Okay.” She later added that Barlow was “really bothering” her this season and acting “unhinged.”
For context, Barlow has previously shared that she gets facial threads—a cosmetic procedure that uses dissolvable threads to lift the skin, often seen as a subtler alternative to Botox or filler.
Once clips from the podcast made their way to Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), fans weren’t impressed.
Many accused Lawrence of crossing the line, calling it unnecessary to mock another woman’s looks. One Reddit user summed up the general sentiment, writing that it was disappointing “to see a woman who’s spoken about Hollywood beauty standards make fun of another woman’s appearance.”
Others, however, saw the exchange differently. Some fans argued that Lawrence’s comments were just harmless Housewives-style shade, the kind of playful banter that’s part of the show’s culture.
