Melissa Gorga recently returned to reality television with her appearance on Wife Swap, a move that was surprising even to her.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that despite multiple offers, she is being very selective about her next projects.
When asked if she might participate in other reality competition shows in the future, Melissa explained:
“I don’t know. I just turned down a couple. I actually turned down Special Forces. I was like, Oh my gosh, that is not for me. There was another one, too. I’m very picky when it comes to that. I’m still in shock I did Wife Swap, so baby steps.”
Her decision to specifically mention Special Forces is particularly noteworthy. Teresa Giudice and Gia Giudice, her sister-in-law and niece, with whom she has had a complicated and at times estranged relationship, appeared on the most recent season of the show. By highlighting Special Forces while leaving the other offers unnamed, Melissa subtly signals that she was offered similar opportunities as her family but chose not to participate.
Melissa also noted how being on wife swap was a mini homecoming to Bravo saying, “I think the fans are excited. I think the fans miss Jersey so much. They need a minute of Jersey, right? I can’t get over how excited everyone is, and I’m excited to have a little catch up with everyone, and show them [my life]. The kids grow so much each year, sometimes even when we film and then it airs six months later, they look so different. Imagine, it’s been a couple years. I feel like my kids are going to look so grown to everyone. I’m excited to be back and have a minute with everyone, because we missed it.”
