Steven McBee Jr. Breaks His Silence Ahead of His Father’s Sentencing

As the McBee family faces a pivotal and painful moment, Steven McBee Jr. is finally opening up about the emotions surrounding his father’s upcoming sentencing, and the toll it has taken on the family behind The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys.

Steven McBee Sr., the family patriarch and co-star of the show’s first season, is set to be sentenced on October 16 in federal court after pleading guilty in November 2024 to a multi-million-dollar crop insurance fraud scheme. He now faces several years in prison and millions in restitution.

While Season 2 of the reality series only hinted at the storm looming over the McBee ranch, Steven Jr. chose to speak candidly in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish back in August.

“We love him so much, and love our family unit,” Steven Jr. shared. “So, to picture him not being here with us for any amount of time, it’s scary.”

Steven Jr. didn’t shy away from describing the emotional weight of the months leading up to the sentencing that is set for today.

“I’m scared, nervous, anything, and everything,” he admitted. “We’re focusing on the positive things we have going, of which there are so many, but I’d be lying if I said that black cloud hasn’t been hanging over us every second of every day since we first found out.”

Despite the heavy burden, the McBees are trying to move forward, anchored by unity and resilience.

“We’re ready to get past that day, deal with whatever comes of it, and move on, to say the least,” Steven Jr. added. “We know no matter what, if we stick together as a family, we’ll make it through anything.”

The family’s loyalty and love for Steven Sr. echoed throughout the Season 2 finale, when the truth of the federal investigation was finally revealed to viewers — and to brothers Jesse and Cole McBee.

The emotional moment left Jesse visibly shaken.

“My dad, he’s 51 years old. He’s getting up there in age,” Jesse told producers. “I’m definitely a little scared at the thought of my dad going to jail.”

Even Steven Sr.’s ex-wife, Kristi McBee, spoke in support of the man at the center of it all.

“You know, we don’t know what all is going to happen with Steve, but there’s a lot of love between us all,” Kristi said.

Through it all, Steven Jr. made it clear that the family’s love for their father remains unshaken.

“We just love and support our dad and we know who he is,” he told The Daily Dish. “We know how hard he works, and how much he cares about us boys and our family.”

I love this show! But it's pretty clear the insurance fraud was on a pretty huge scale. The family seemed to be living a very expensive lifestyle and it did make me wonder how it all added up. But anyway, I hope the sons can pull it all together and get it back on track.

It’s really a shame that he couldn’t find legal resources to get through his financial obstacles . Now the family has to try and salvage all his mess .
