Bronwyn Newport may be new to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but she’s already proving she’s not here to play small. As Season 5 heats up, Newport is taking center stage — navigating drama, broken friendships, and shifting alliances — all while preparing for her first-ever reunion taping.
In a recent interview with Parade, Bronwyn got candid about what it’s been like to see her life — and friendships — play out on one of Bravo’s most talked-about franchises.
“Obviously you see me have some real ups and downs on camera,” she admitted. “It’s tricky to watch friendships evolve over time and then rewatch it months later when that’s had some time to settle. It’s still hard to rewatch.”
One of the major themes of the season? The messy — and often conflicting — definitions of what being a “good friend” really means.
“There’s a lot of discussion, maybe not even out in the open, [about] what a ‘good friend’ is to each of us individually and how we show friendship versus how we receive it,” Bronwyn shared. “I always want to make sure that I’m being the kind of friend that I would want, but sometimes that’s not the same kind of friend that Lisa would want or Angie.”
That difference in expectations seems to have taken a toll on her long-standing friendship with Lisa Barlow. And she hasn’t exactly had smooth sailing with Heather Gay either. As Bronwyn explained, watching her own words get twisted has made the show feel a little surreal.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a TV show too,” she said with a laugh. “The way that my words get repeated sometimes does not feel like the way I said them. The sentiment behind my words is definitely being taken to a new level.”
So, who is Bronwyn closest with these days? Surprisingly, it’s not the women she came in knowing best.
“Over time, I’ve gotten to know Angie and Mary and Whitney and just fallen in love with the three of them,” she said. “And I’ve gotten to know a little bit more about Lisa that I love, but maybe don’t like.”
Still, she’s keeping an open mind — especially when it comes to Heather.
“I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised where Heather and I end up … unless I’m surprised, which, I mean, you never know!”
As the cast preps for the upcoming reunion, Bronwyn isn’t shy about what she expects to go down.
“I think I’m pretty clear where I stand with everybody today, and I think I’m pretty clear with how we got to where we are today… but I am uncomfortable with where we are,” she admitted.
From the looks of the seating chart, the reunion will likely pit Bronwyn and her new allies — Angie Katsanevas, Whitney Rose, and Mary Cosby — against Heather, Lisa, and Meredith Marks. And Bronwyn’s message to her castmates? Come prepared.
“We’re gonna have to have some apologies. We’re gonna have some accountability from me and from others,” she said firmly. But she’s also ready to put in the work. “Whatever it is I need to do to fix a friendship — I mean that genuinely.”
She added, “What do you need in a friendship that I can provide for you, to fix maybe where we’ve been or to get to know me?”
But don’t expect her to show up without the signature Housewives glam. She’s got that part covered.
“I have a couple of great outfits I’m deciding between … I have good glam!” she teased.
And her final message for her co-stars?
“To my friends on the show, if you’re listening, you need to show up with some accountability and apologies, also,” she said, before cheekily adding: “We are going to meet halfway! Well, I’m come 60% of the way, but they’re gonna come 40!”
