Bozoma Saint John is no stranger to bold moves, but her decision to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills may have been her most unexpected yet. The trailblazing executive, Hall of Famer, and marketing powerhouse opened up during a recent appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends, revealing that nearly everyone in her life warned her not to do it.
“You already know everybody was like, ‘Don’t do it! You have an amazing reputation, you’re in the Hall of Fame, [you have] this career of 25 years. Why would you go on TV and fight with women?!’” Saint John shared with host Jenna Bush Hager.
But that perspective didn’t sit right with her. “And I was like wait. But is that what I have to do? Because I don’t think that’s what I have to do,” she said — before adding, emphatically, “I didn’t do it.”
Despite the skepticism from her inner circle, Saint John said she has no regrets about stepping into the Bravo spotlight. “I think with all of the decisions that I’ve made through the course of my career, most of which have been wildly unpopular, this was just another one.”
And for fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of RHOBH, Saint John teased that the upcoming season is going to be one to watch: “It’s a big season. Lots of action, very big cast. Whew, there’s a lot going on.”
While on Today, Bozoma was also promoting her new NBC series On Brand, co-hosted with none other than Jimmy Fallon. The collaboration came together in part thanks to Fallon’s wife, a RHOBH fan, who quickly endorsed Saint John.
Fallon recalled, “She’s overqualified, she’s in the Marketing Hall of Fame. She knows what’s up.” As for their first meeting, he said, “We hit it off immediately. She legitimizes the show and it’s so fun.”
Between reality TV and high-level marketing, Bozoma Saint John continues to rewrite the rules — and she’s doing it on her own terms.
