Speaking about the incident on her podcast, Turning the Tables, Teresa shared that her appearance had been specifically booked to promote her show, and there were clear agreements in place about what topics were off-limits. “Anytime I go on any TV show, whoever gets me on the TV show tells them, you know, don’t talk about this. Don’t talk about that. And of course, they agree to it,” she explained. “But this person decided not to obey by the rules, you know.”
She also emphasized that her decision to hang up wasn’t impulsive—it was intentional. “I know he was trying to get a rise out of me. And I was not going to give that to him. And that’s why I chose to end the call,” Teresa said. “At this point in my life, if I feel like I am not happy with something, I’m gonna walk away.”

Critics questioned why she didn’t end the call sooner, to which she responded: “My phone was this way. I turned it the right way. And I hung up the phone. I wasn’t like, oh my God, like frazzled or anything. Because I already knew what he was trying to do. And I just wasn’t giving him this.”
For Teresa, the issue wasn’t just about an uncomfortable question—it was about professionalism and respect. “There’s power in removing yourself from a situation because it’s like either you can see what path it’s going down,” she said. “You quickly realize, okay, he’s not here to let me do my job, which is to promote the show. And he’s also not here to do his job, which is to give me a safe space to have a conversation.”
She pointed out that local news should be about connection and community—not confrontation. “Why would you not want to provide a platform that anyone would want to come and feel safe to have a discussion?” Teresa asked. “It’s local news, like to promote things, because we’re gonna be in Chicago… If they would love to come and see me, I would love to see them.”
Reflecting on the experience, Teresa also revealed she’d heard of similar treatment toward other guests. “I heard he did the same thing to Tom Sandoval. There’s no need to attack people. It’s like, be nice in this world, you know?”
Despite the rocky interview, Teresa made it clear that the rest of the WGN team was kind and respectful. “They were all very nice before I went on,” she said.
Her message moving forward is simple: respect boundaries, stay professional, and use your voice when needed. “So yes, I chose to end the call. That’s basically what I did.”
