Dolores Catania Defends Teresa Giudice After Interview Walk-Off, Blasts Host as ‘Nasty’ and Says She’ll Never Go On That Show

Reality TV isn’t known for being subtle, but not even The Real Housewives of New Jersey could prepare Teresa Giudice for the curveball she faced on live television last week. During what was expected to be a routine appearance on Chicago’s WGN Morning News, Giudice stunned viewers by abruptly ending the interview after being asked about her past legal troubles.

“Okay, I’m hanging up,” Giudice said on-air. “Let’s just hang up. That’s it.”

The moment quickly went viral, drawing reactions from fans and fellow Bravo stars alike. But one person firmly in her corner is longtime friend and castmate Dolores Catania. On the June 23 episode of the Two T’s in a Pod podcast, Catania defended Giudice’s decision to cut the interview short.

“I think that she was so taken back because when we speak to people — literally a news station — we’re not expecting that from them,” Catania said. “I would never expect that. We don’t expect that from anyone. I was taken back, and I think that she was so taken aback [that] she wasn’t ready.”

The interview in question took a sharp turn when host Larry Potash brought up Giudice’s past legal issues. Potash later joked that his guest clearly “didn’t like that question.” But for Catania, the exchange crossed a line.

“He threw her off and it was nasty,” she said. “[Teresa] walked off once before. … Teresa does not like somebody to try to make a fool out of her. She knows when that’s happening. … That was rude. I felt bad for her. Just so you know, for whatever it’s worth, Larry, I’ll never come on that show.”

Tamra Judge, cohost of the podcast and star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, also weighed in. While she admitted she would’ve handled it differently, she agreed that the tone of the interview was unexpected.

“I would have just said, ‘For me personally, since you brought it up, yeah, it’s a situation we’re dealing with. End of story,’” Judge said. However, she added, “If you are taking your time to go on somebody’s podcast or an interview, you’re not expecting to get attacked.”

As for Giudice, she has yet to address the backlash in detail, but with friends like Dolores Catania in her corner, it’s clear she’s not facing it alone.

So you're being investigated for a $3M tax fraud, go on a TV interview, and don't expect the interviewer to bring it up? Yeah right Dolo. I mean, I get Teresa wouldn't expect it, because she's as delusional and dumb as they come.

I’m actually surprised that Dolo took an authentic stance like a real friend in a real situation would after almost three decades - and publicly ! Nice to see . That segment and that “ news” station , is not it for that topic and was not prearranged . It’s also weird to me that a grown ass aging man would try to have a go at a HW from a bravo show lol! Like ,who hurt you ????

I’m no fan of Teresa, but even I was surprised. Reporters can ask tough questions, but he was clearly chasing a moment. It made no sense to bring up her family's taxes while discussing an event she’s attending, and instead of handling it professionally, he tried to embarrass her. It came off as random and inappropriate.

Whether you like Teresa or not, rude is rude, and this WGN (Shitcago) hack was a total asshole ... I only wish Teresa would have called him one before she left.

I wish she would’ve had a bitchy retort for that aging frat boy . “ ask your mutha ..”but she did the right thing just removing herself before it really got bad .

Tamra's itching for a fight with Teresa and quite frankly I can't wait for Tre to take her down because Tammy Sue needs a good smack up the side of the head so to speak.
