The Real Housewives of Atlanta is no stranger to drama, but this season’s reunion is already making headlines—before it even airs. Two notable cast members, Kenya Moore and Brit Eady, were both absent from the taping, which took place on June 5 in Atlanta.
According to PEOPLE, their reasons for missing the highly anticipated reunion were vastly different. A source close to the show revealed that Brit Eady, 37, chose not to attend amid a major falling out with the rest of the cast. Meanwhile, Kenya Moore, 54, wasn’t even invited. Bravo reportedly chose to exclude her from the event entirely.
“I’m disappointed to not be a part of the #RHOA 16 reunion taping today,” Moore wrote on Twitter, confirming her absence and addressing the controversy. “Please know I take full accountability for my actions and deeply apologize to all those affected including Brittney, the cast, crew, guests and viewers.”
Kenya Moore’s exclusion comes after a tumultuous season. Once the longest-running star on RHOA, her time was cut short after an explosive incident during the June 6 opening of her Kenya Moore Hair Spa. During the event, Moore allegedly displayed explicit images from Eady’s past—a move that sparked a serious backlash and led to her suspension. She later exited the series following an internal investigation.
Behind the scenes, sources offered conflicting accounts of what really happened. One insider claimed Kenya Moore acted out of fear after Eady allegedly threatened her with a gun during a heated argument captured on camera. “Kenya was concerned for her safety, that is the truth,” the source insisted. “Never for one second did Kenya feel like she was being taken seriously for her fears. It’s unfair.”
However, a separate source close to production pushed back, saying “at no time was Kenya ever threatened with a weapon, nor was there ever a weapon present during the course of production.”
The episode in question did air, and viewers saw Eady mention a “pistol” in reference to Moore. Eady has since expressed regret. “I still beat myself up, just the act that I allowed her to trigger me,” she admitted during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “There’s no excuse for what I did, for what I said. I mentioned a pistol, which I never should have. And I was wrong.”
Moore, too, has expressed remorse. Speaking on Tamron Hall in late 2024, she reflected on the incident, saying, “If I could do it all over again, I believe the photos were very distasteful, and I elevated the situation… I’ve taken full accountability for the things that I’ve done.”
“I felt threatened,” Moore added. “I’ve never had a child in a situation like this before. So, that’s why it escalated to the point where I was protecting not only myself, but my child.”
With Moore and Eady both missing, the reunion featured returning faces like Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Kelli Ferrell, and Angela Oakley. Cynthia Bailey also made an appearance, returning as a “Friend” of the cast this season.
Bravo has yet to release a full statement about the cast shakeup but did share a seating chart confirming the absence of both Moore and Eady.
