Alexia Echevarria Ex-Stepdaughter Sophia Nepola Exposes RHOM: Calls Show “Fake,” Blasts Editing, and Says Alexia & Todd Are Just “Friends”

Alexia Echevarria Ex-Stepdaughter Sophia Slams RHOM as “Fake,” Says Producers “Manipulate” Scenes and Defends Dad Todd’s Image

As The Real Housewives of Miami gears up for its seventh season, the drama isn’t just playing out on-screen. Sophia Nepola, the daughter of Todd Nepola and former stepdaughter of RHOM star Alexia Echevarria, is pulling back the curtain on what she claims is the not-so-glamorous truth behind the Bravo series.

In a candid TikTok video, Sophia Nepola shared her reasons for steering clear of the show — and why she’s deeply uncomfortable with how her father has been portrayed.

“Everyone asks me why I did not want to be on The Real Housewives of Miami,” Sophia began. “So today, I’m gonna talk about that, [and] probably, honestly, give like 100 reasons why I didn’t want to be on the show.”

Her biggest gripe? The lack of authenticity.

“To keep it as simple as possible, I just didn’t feel like reality TV should be fake,” she stated. “I felt like every time [it got] filmed versus when it got aired, it would just never be how it played out in real life.”

Sophia explained that while she was initially “really interested” in appearing on the rebooted show, her enthusiasm waned quickly after discovering how little reality was actually involved. She revealed that scenes she filmed with her sister were ultimately scrapped.

“They all got cut … because there was no fighting,” she said. “It just wasn’t interesting enough for the show. That was kind of the first time that I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t really want to do this. It’s a waste of my time.’”

What pushed her away completely was how her father was depicted during an on-camera argument with one of her former stepbrothers.

“We were in our rooms when it happened and we [heard] everything,” Sophia recalled. “When you see it on the show, you’re just like, kind of like, ‘Whoa, this came out of nowhere,’ but that’s not what happened.”

Calling the show’s cast “characters,” she continued, “This isn’t even real. No one looks good. I feel like every single season, they just pick a new person to make look not good.”

Though she initially brushed off the show’s dramatizations, Sophia said it became personal when her classmates began to associate her dad with the angry persona shown on TV.

“My dad is the sweetest person ever, and he’s not gonna yell at you,” she said. “They just make a lot of scenes to make someone else look bad … So I literally stopped watching the show because it was just bothering me so much how my family would get portrayed.”

She summed it up bluntly: “Like, this is so fake. What are we doing?”

In the comments section of the video, one follower pointed out that her dad and Alexia had recently been spotted together. Sophia responded with a smiling emoji, clarifying, “Well yes, they’re friends.”

As fans speculate on what season seven might bring, Sophia’s unfiltered commentary is already stirring its own wave of off-camera buzz.

Whatever...she doesn't have to worry about this now given her dad is no longer involved with the series. I can't wait for it to start again.

The fakery (along with the predictability) is killing the entire series. Actually, the entire concept is stale.

I'm down to just four; NJ, SLC, OC, and Encino ... and these days, I'm FF-ing thru most of those. The (much improved) Below Deck series is the only other shows I watch.
