Kyle Richards’ Daughter Sophia Umansky, 25, Takes to Weight Loss Drug and Shares Shocking Hair Loss Side Effect

Sophia Umansky, 25, the daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, is opening up about a personal and unexpected side effect from using the weight-loss drug Mounjaro.

In a TikTok video posted Wednesday, Sophia stunned fans by revealing dramatic hair loss since starting the medication.

“I am very lucky that I have so much hair, because at the rate that I’ve been losing hair, I’m gonna be bald in about a week,” she said.

Sophia, who appears on Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills, explained the timeline of the symptoms:

“I started Mounjaro about four months ago, and I would say like maybe for the past three weeks to a month, I’ve noticed a dramatic hair loss situation.”

While she wore her signature long brunette hair loose in the video, she revealed that the situation behind the scenes is far more alarming.

“I’m just going to show you a quick little video of what my hair loss looks like, and this is every day,” she said. “And you’re not even seeing the half of it.”

Sophia proceeded to show clumps of hair gathered in her shower drain and stuck to the walls — revealing that her daily routine includes losing large amounts of hair just by running her hands through it.

“When I pull my hand through my hair during the day, piles of hair come out,” she shared.

Though she doesn’t place direct blame on Mounjaro itself, Sophia believes the issue stems from the rapid weight loss it triggered.

“I don’t think it’s a direct result of the medication. I think it’s a direct result of rapid weight loss because of the medication, and not eating enough vitamins, protein, all that kind of stuff.”

To address the issue, she told fans that she’s working to replenish nutrients and promote hair regrowth:

“I’ve been putting an effort into taking vitamins and eating protein,” she said, adding that she’s also using OMI hair growth peptides, collagen, and Grüns vitamins.

Are you surprised Sophia is on the weight loss drug?

More and more reports coming out about short and long term effects of these drugs. Like any drug, when used properly and under medical supervision, the intended effects may outweigh the side effects. But it sounds like many of those who took the drug solely for vanity reasons may be sorry they did so before long term research on them was finished.

Why was she on a weight loss drug? Is she overweight? There really is something utterly gross about seeing hair stuck to a shower wall or in clumps on the floor. Hope she feels better. Happy Friday, everyone!!

Totally a victim of Hollywood - she wasn't 'fat' at all !

If that's a "victim", sign me up.

This trick was never fat in the first place! WTH with perfectly healthy YOUNG people who AT MOST have 10-15 vanity lbs. to lose going on these drugs??? And I’m not AGAINST it per se, BUT I do NOT trust that these drugs are safe enough for just vanity weight cuz I don’t think these drugs are safe at all. That is just my opinion and I’m NOT a medical professional so box of salt there, but nonetheless, W-T-F???? ?

I would wager that the OZ ain't the only drug in this chick's system.
Champagne Hangover May 2, 2025 - 4:26 pm
Oh! You could be right… ? Notice she doesn’t mention ceasing the OZ even though she doesn’t even need it? ? AND for the record, this skincare type influencer I follow was/is? on that stuff and a HUGE proponent of a carnivore diet BUT guess what she’s experienced nonetheless? That’s right, HAIR LOSS! So, I’m not saying in Sophia’s case protein might be an issue, I’m just saying someone on the carnivore diet got plenty of protein and STILL suffered hair loss…and Ozempic face too! (And I’m not being judgy cuz she fully admits the OZ face and is determined to reverse it, but thus far? Nope. ????) I just think that OZ stuff is nothing to mess around with and is FAR more dangerous than we’re being told. ? Sorry, not sorry…JMO
