Teddi Mellencamp Reveals ‘50/50’ Chances in Brave Cancer Fight

Teddi Mellencamp Opens Up About Her Stage 4 Cancer Battle and the Struggles of Writing a Will

Teddi Mellencamp is facing the fight of her life — and she’s not sugarcoating any part of it. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recently opened up about her cancer journey, offering a brutally honest look at what it’s like to live with Stage 4 metastasized melanoma.

Teddi Mellencamp Reveals ‘50/50’ Chances in Brave Cancer Fight

In an interview with ABC’s Nightline on April 10, Teddi revealed that her doctors have told her she has about a “50/50” chance of survival. She admitted that she often pushes her medical team for straight answers, sharing, “It’s one of my favorite things to ask. ‘How long I got?’ Or, ‘What are my chances?’ And they often times say, ’50/50.’”

The mom of three didn’t hold back on how jarring those odds felt. “50/50?! I wouldn’t buy a car that’s only gonna drive 50 percent of the time,” she recalled telling her doctors.

Teddi is currently undergoing immunotherapy, a relatively new treatment developed in 2011 that uses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer cells. While the process is grueling, it’s given her hope. “That’s where I try to then find the positive,” she explained.

The reality star and accountability coach admitted that the toughest part of this chapter is adjusting to a less active lifestyle. “The hardest thing for me is I’ve always been a super active person,” she shared. “I cannot do the things I was used to doing.”

Living with this diagnosis has brought a new perspective. Teddi says it’s taught her to appreciate every moment and focus on what truly matters. “I’m here, and that makes me feel good,” she said. “These are special times that we get to do any of this.”

Teddi was first diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma in 2022. After undergoing 16 surgeries to remove cancerous lesions, she received a clean bill of health in late 2024. But in February 2025, severe headaches sent her to the emergency room, where doctors discovered four “plum-sized tumors” in her brain. The subsequent surgery revealed even more tumors in her lungs.

Despite the odds, Teddi Mellencamp is determined to keep fighting — and to keep sharing her truth along the way.

That was my first thought when Teddi first revealed her diagnosis ... how especially hard this was going to be on a person like her with such an active lifestyle. I can so relate; you forge ahead refusing to give in to the illness, but there are times when stark reality sets in, you have to just face the fact that you can't do what you used to. You can either give in, or find other alternatives.

I think Teddi needs to speak about this publicly as a form of therapy to deal with just how huge this is. She has a lot of support. I really hope she can beat this.

I hope she recovers! I can't imagine what she is going through mentally with this.
