Taylor Armstrong Opens Up About the Abuse She Endured in Her Marriage to Russell Armstrong

Reality TV has never shied away from exposing the raw, difficult sides of life — and for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Taylor Armstrong, those moments were all too real. Now, more than a decade after the tragic end of her marriage to Russell Armstrong, Taylor is speaking out with painful clarity about the abuse she suffered behind closed doors.

In a new episode of Investigation Discovery Hollywood Demons, the 53-year-old bravely revisits some of the darkest moments of her past, detailing the physical and emotional terror she endured while married to Russell, who died by suicide in 2011.

One horrifying incident took place at a friend’s house after those around her began voicing concerns about her safety. Russell overheard them and, as Taylor Armstrong recounts, “He came flying into the backyard. He threw me in the pool. He grabbed the man, knocked all of his teeth out, and he jumped in the pool and he was trying to hold me under the water. I thought he was going to drown me.”

Another terrifying memory came from something as seemingly simple as serving dinner. After she served pizza to his sons — without vegetables — Taylor Armstrong says, “He grabbed me by the throat and put me against the wall” and warned her he would “kill” her if it happened again.

For Taylor, one pivotal, life-altering moment arrived on her 40th birthday at a Four Seasons hotel. Russell had showered her with expensive gifts, but what followed was anything but celebratory. He became enraged over her attending co-star Lisa Vanderpump’s daughter’s bachelorette party in Las Vegas, eventually assaulting her so severely that it left her with a fractured orbital floor — the bone that supports the eye. It required reconstructive surgery.

That violent attack was the breaking point. Taylor filed for divorce in July 2011. The following month, Russell took his own life by hanging.

Looking back, Taylor says she never expected it. “There was a myriad of things that he was very concerned about, but I never thought that he would kill himself,” she revealed. “Suicide never crossed my mind.”

Now married to attorney John Bluher and raising her daughter Kennedy, Taylor continues to share her story in the hopes of helping others trapped in similar cycles of abuse.

This all happened so many years ago, I thought we were done with it Apparently, though Taylor wants another try at her 15 minutes of fame. This wole story is a tragedy, but there seems to be no reason for her to bring it all up again.

Smashing an orbital socket with a blow the face is easily verifiable, as is a PUBLIC display of rage where Russel allegedly "knocked ALL of a man's teeth out". But this is where it get's dicey ... both LVP, Camille, and I think Kim and Kyle have more or less cooberated Taylor's accusations claiming that they've seen the (horrific) pictures.

Friends of Russell created a website that disputed all Taylor's claims of abuse. While we never know what goes on behind closed doors, the man is dead and not here to defend himself. His children from another marriage never said a bad word about him and his friends say that Taylor is not being truthful. I just know what I saw on that show which was someone who discovered his wife was painting him as an abuser to the world coupled with the financial issues he was privately dealing with behind the scenes. I think he couldn't handle it and didn't see a way out. I liked Taylor a lot more when she was recently on TV again, but she was on drugs or something when she was on that show the first time. I reserve judgement given he's not here to defend himself.

Yep. It’s sus but it’s not politically correct to say so.? And Idk what happened. I believe that there was strife. I don’t think that Taylor fabricated EVERYTHING wholesale but do I believe some things were embellished, exaggerated? There were/are too many people WAY early on saying that AND MORE for me to honestly say I believe everything Taylor says happened and happened the way she said it did. ? Maybe it did but ? PLUS there was a TREMENDOUS amount of scuttlebutt eons ago about Taylor’s shady past ? I don’t remember all the deets (except her name is not really Taylor but Shana or something like that. And yes, iirc she changed her last name too…?), but I DO remember it was SHADY. So…????but ?.

Right? Taylor has a plenty of skeletons in the closet herself.

I'll never understand why Russell 'let her' do the Real Housewives. Some of the other husbands, I understand, as they wanted their wives to have an income before they left them but never understood how Russell didn't know this was going to come out. Unless he was that sinister he wanted to see how much he could control Taylor. And as their is a post up about poor old Brandi, I will never forget how unkind she was to Taylor in the reunion that year.

I don't remember the reunion but Brandi can be nasty for sure.
