On the explosive season 14 finale of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Jennifer Tilly didn’t hold back when discussing Kyle Richards’ fluctuating loyalty to her friend, Sutton Stracke. The drama unfolded as the women grappled with Sutton’s need for validation from Kyle, resulting in sharp commentary from several of the cast members.
During a heated conversation on the RHOBH: After Show, Jennifer, 66, opened up about her mixed feelings toward Kyle’s actions. “There’s like, two Kyles. There’s the one that puts her arm around you, shows you the ropes, helps you, rents her house to you. And then there’s the other Kyle,” Jennifer explained, suggesting that Kyle’s behavior could swing between genuine support and calculated indifference. She didn’t mince words, admitting, “I’ve said to Sutton, ‘Kyle is not your friend.’”
Kyle, 56, however, defended herself, claiming that her actions toward Sutton were a direct response to Sutton’s behavior. “The way that I have been unsupported is beyond. And the fact that I have had her coming to me when I was at my lowest moment and getting mad at me for storming off, and now they’re looking at me like, ‘Why are you not supporting Sutton?’ You’ve got to be kidding me,” Kyle remarked, pointing out the inconsistencies in her relationship with Sutton.
Meanwhile, the topic of “blind loyalty” was raised by Erika Jayne, 53, who expressed her frustration with people who defend Sutton no matter the circumstances. “I’ve seen the pattern. I have seen it,” Erika said, referring to Sutton’s behavior in their interactions. However, Sutton, who has continually defended her bond with Kyle, tried to rationalize the friendship by admitting, “I don’t want anything from Kyle. There’s nothing that I want or need from her at all.”
Yet, Garcelle Beauvais, 58, wasn’t convinced. “The need for her friendship is important to you,” she said, prompting Jennifer to draw a comparison between Kyle and Sutton’s mother, Reba, suggesting that Sutton might be seeking validation from someone who doesn’t always have her best interests at heart.
As the episode progressed, Sutton revealed that many others had expressed concerns about Kyle’s loyalty, but she remained adamant that there was something about Kyle that kept her invested in the friendship. “There are lots of people who tell me, ‘Kyle is not your friend.’ But, I like her. Our relationship can have some private moments,” Sutton explained.
Yet, Garcelle wasn’t buying it, offering a harsh truth: “Yeah, but those private moments I feel like are manipulative for you. You can’t really be a friend of mine if you hang out with people who despise me.”
The conversation left viewers questioning whether Kyle’s friendship with Sutton was rooted in genuine affection or simply a complex web of manipulation and unbalanced loyalty.
