Teresa Giudice reveals that one of her most iconic scenes from season 1 of RHONJ was fake. Get all the tea!
On a recent episode of her new podcast, Turning the Tables, Teresa Giudice revealed that one scene between her and Jacqueline Laurita was staged by production.
For the first episode of her new podcast, Teresa Giudice welcomed her fellow RHONJ OG Jacqueline Laurita. The two reflected on Teresa’s infamous cash-paying scene for season one of the franchise.
“Jacqueline, remember the furniture store?” Teresa asked on the June 19 episode of Turning the Tables, per a clip shared on Instagram by Bravosnarkside.
“Oh my God. They were handing you the money,” Jacqueline responded.
“Wait. Can we talk about that? We have to talk about that. I think that’s why the government — that’s why the government came after us,” Teresa noted, referring to her and her ex-husband, Joe Giudice‘s legal drama, which resulted in them both spending time behind bars.
According to Jacqueline, who left RHONJ in 2016 following season 7, producers told Teresa, “I think it’d be cool if you paid in cash.”
But when Teresa told them that she only had $200 in cash and Jacqueline had $300, they gave Teresa “a bunch” more cash, “so it looked like a lot.”
“I don’t think they did, Jacqueline, they just, it was 300 and my 200. That was it. It was $500 bills,” Teresa said.
However, Jacqueline insisted she remembers producers giving Teresa more cash.
“They were like, ‘Just act like you’re paying [in cash].’ There was like 100s mixed in with other smaller bills,” the Bravo alum explained.
Teresa admitted that the whole scene made it seem like she had more cash than she actually did.
“They showed how much my furniture was, like 140 thou — whatever it was, and then I’m hearing them giving out $100 bills and then they showed the calculator. It looked like I had all that money cash on me,” the season 14 RHONJ star recalled.
