Crystal Minkoff discusses the “conversation” with Bravo that ultimately led to her departure from RHOBH. She also reveals which co-star didn’t text her after her exit.
Last month, Crystal Minkoff announced that she wouldn’t return to RHOBH for season 14. The 41-year-old starred in the hit Bravo series for three seasons.
As previously reported, Crystal announced her departure from RHOBH on April 15 via Instagram.
“I just wanted to share the news that I will not be coming back to film season 14 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It’s very bittersweet,” the 41-year-old said in her Instagram video post. “Never did I think I would have been asked to do the show in a million years, let alone film it for three seasons. Every single year I was asked back, it was a blessing. It was an honor.”
Crystal Minkoff, who joined RHOBH during season 11, noted that “being the first Asian American on Beverly Hills was a lot of weight on my shoulders.”
“I have since just have really understood the magnitude of what that meant for people,” she continued. “I just wanted to thank you guys for being such an incredible support for me, and I hope that I have been for you, sharing my story with my ED [eating disorder], sharing stories about my father and his Alzheimer’s. I’ve heard so many incredible stories from you guys.”
While appearing on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Crystal revealed that just days before announcing her departure from RHOBH, she was “in talks” with Bravo about returning for season 14.
“Honestly, I was going down the path, and you know, things happen,” Crystal admitted.
She then explained the “conversation” that ultimately led to Bravo letting her go from the series.
“It was like, ‘How are you feeling about it?’ And you know, it was like honest how I felt about the show, and it’s hard for me,” she said.
The mom of two went on to confirm that after this “conversation,” Bravo decided to let her go from RHOBH.
“For me, you know, my family is like the most important. More important than any job I could have,” Crystal explained. “And you know the show is tough, and it reveals a lot, and you know I just want to be protective of my family and my kids. And that’s all.”
When asked if she put up boundaries with Bravo concerning her family, Crystal said, “I’ve always had boundaries. That’s just inherently – and I think that’s always been probably their struggle.”
Crystal also said that Bravo and “the audience” wanted more from her on the show.
“The girls on the show … I had texted them after. I was like, ‘You guys deserve a bajillion dollars for like how much you give.’ And you know, it was hard for me,” Crystal recalled. “But it was a good decision.”
As for which RHOBH co-stars did and didn’t contact her after announcing her exit, Crystal reveals everyone in the cast reached out besides Dorit Kemsley.
“She’s the only one that didn’t text me,” said the reality TV star. “But I think also she was probably dealing with her own contract.”
