Vanderpump Rules staple Peter Madrigal shades Bravo’s new spinoff series, The Valley, and also reveals why he won’t appear on season 11.
During an interview on the Bravo and Blaze podcast, Peter Madrigal shared his honest and raw thoughts on the Vanderpump Rules spinoff show, which is set to premiere on Bravo late this month.
The Valley will star Vanderpump Rules alum Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute, as well as a bevy of fresh faces.
The new series, which is set to premiere on March 19, will follow several 30-somethings as they navigate friendship, career, marriage, and parenthood in suburbia.
Along with Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute, The Valley stars Luke Broderick, Danny Booko, Nia Booko, Jesse Lally, Michele Lally, Jason Caperna, and Janet Caperna. Jasmine Goode and Zack Wickham will also appear as “friends” of the cast on the new Bravo series.
Like Vanderpump Rules, The Valley will follow a group of friends in Los Angeles. However, this time around, the group will “trade bottle service in West Hollywood for baby bottles in the Valley, all while they navigate bustling businesses, rocky relationships, and feisty friendships,” per the show’s official synopsis.
“It looks like garbage,” the SUR manager said. “It looks like trash … I saw it, and I was like, ‘Are they serious right now?’ Okay. Alright. … Who’s the target audience for on that? Who are they going for? What is this?”
Peter Madrigal has been a mainstay on Vanderpump Rules since the series premiered on Bravo in January 2013. However, he has been noticeably absent throughout season 11 so far.
The last time Bravo fans saw Peter Madrigal on Vanderpump Rules was during season 10 when he briefly attempted to pursue Raquel Leviss following her split from James Kennedy. They went on a date and filmed a few scenes together, but ultimately, Raquel gave Peter the brush off. Now we know that at that time, Racquel was secretly involved with Tom Sandoval.
After the news of Raquel and Sandoval’s affair came to light, Peter Madrigal admitted that he felt used for a storyline.
So, is this why the SUR manager did not want to return for season 11? Well, no. Peter was offered a spot to film for season 11 of Vanderpump Rules, but there was a major catch that forced him to walk away from the offer—compensation.
While appearing on the Bravo & Blaze podcast, hosted by Jenny Blaze, Peter revealed that he was asked to return to Vanderpump Rules “for free,” which is ultimately why he chose not to participate in season 11.
“Can you give us more insight?” Jenny asked Peter Madrigal about his exit from the show. “Was that by your choice or is that, from the show?”
“No it wasn’t by my choice,” he admitted.
The 39-year-old explained, “I mean, I guess it was by my choice in a sense. So basically, my choice was to come back to the show for free. Or not do it. That’s basically what happened. So I’ve been getting paid on the show since the inception of the show. And then they asked me to do it for free.”
Jenny followed up, asking if producers “actually specifically and explicitly said for free?”
“No they didn’t say for free. But they didn’t have any payment for me in the budget,” Peter replied.
